Coworker has issues

I see there's another thread here on the CB with someone who knows Jesse James' mistress. Maybe you could introduce them to your co-worker?

I have a family member just like this... I don't see her often, but when I do I just smile and say "oh wow", and "really? how interesting" and take her as entertainment. I don't know why she she tells some of the whoppers she tells, but all I can figure is she wants some attention.

Oh, my favorite one is that her husband is "connected" with the mafia. Ummmm, he is Italian but that is about as connected as I can see him being. Isn't there a code of silence around that stuff, too? I mean, you don't just tell everyone you meet that your family is in the mafia. It makes the real mafia families laugh at you!

SNL does a skit like this every once in a while ~ it's pretty funny! (I always think of my Aunt! "I have a bleeding ulcer." "Oh, I had one last week, but it was MUCH worse than yours ~ I almost died!") No matter what you say, they have been there, done it, theirs was so much worse than anyone else, they know everyone and everything! Have some fun with her ~ tell her who was at your house last weekend! (Michelle Obama, maybe?)

Ok, I have been in my job for a week, and so far I LOVE it...but the issue is my co-worker.
<snip>
So now what do I do...I cannot believe ANYTHING that comes out of her mouth, and she believes everything she says...what should I do?
It's your first week in a new job. Do what the majority are advising here and just nod your head. Or emulate your coworkers because it's likely they know all about her fabrications and let them slide.

Congratulations on the new job!

With those type of people - and I know a few well - I just smile and nod, and don't believe a word they say.

My cousin's GF is like this. We have a saying in our family...How can you tell when Tracy is lying? Her lips move! :lmao:

Keep listening, and then come tell us. :rotfl2: I so miss EvilGenius and her stories about her crazy co-worker!

I agree, tell us about her stories!

Kidding aside, I agree.

Well then for all those following...

Jesse got served some papers yesterday, and this morning flew out to CA, leaving the kids in Fl..HAHA...This was AFTER the story where her DH burnt dinner, so her ENTIRE household ended up at 7-11 and got dinner there instead...Jesse at hot dogs...

OH MY!!

I will have to tell you the story about how she is friends with Forrest Whitaker next time...

Oh forgot to add...I have been doing nothing but UH Huh. REALLY!! and the like...seems to work.

Sounds liIke a student of mine. I have told the kids I used to work at Disney, and so of course his mom does. One of my kids went to California over spring break, so then he told the art teacher that he did too. Any time somebody has done something, he has done it too. Most of it is malarkey.

Since we're working on honesty in my room, we just say, "I don't listen to stories." Of course, you can't do that with your coworker.

Just nod your head and listen. She seems to need the attention.
Nancy

That's me! Though I don't really know her...just went to high school with her.

There has to be some way to use that to the OPs advantage. :thumbsup2 "My friend went to school with Jesse's mistress. She wants to know how she manages to keep her blond hair so nicely black?" or something. :lmao:

I used to work with a teacher like this. It was my first year in the school and we worked in the same room (resource room) and she used to talk about her fiance and her daughters. One day I asked if they looked like her (she said something about my son looking like my husband) and she said, "Well, Stephanie does, buy Molly looks just like her dad."

I found out later that they were her boyfriend's daughters and didn't even live with them. Weird.

She lied about everything.

She ended up taking too much Phenergan one day and hit a car on the way to school, continued on to school without stopping, and then fell asleep in the room curled up in the beanbags! She was transfered to another school. :sad2:

I wouldn't feed into it, because if she is truly sick, I would worry that she would become unhinged completely and direct it my way.

DH witnessed a co-worker come unhinged at work. He was taken away in an ambulance and stayed in the psych ward at our local hospital for a number of weeks. He started out with incredible lies and it grew from there. You just never know. :confused3
