Cowboy Beans?

What are cowboy beans? I noticed them on a few menus?

In reality, they are usually made with ground beef and pinto beans with a tomato based sauce with brown sugar, spices, etc. (barbeque smoke flavor). A one pot meal.

But, seriously doubt that's what Disney is referring to on their menus - probably more like barbeque beans sans meat!

I'm pretty sure the only place we've been served them at is HDDR. None at our table were interested in them the last the time we ate there so the man asked they be taken off the table so we'd have more elbow space. Agreeing w/ North of Mouse, that there is no meat and seasoning was minimal.

my experience at HDDR is that there IS meat and they were bbq seasoned. but last time was Dec 2016, not sure if it changed. it's not ground meat though, I think more like a pulled pork.

Definitive answer and yeah there is meat in it. I'm kinda giggling at the recipe's want for B+M beans which crave molasses, mustard and other good stuff on my end but guess that's the beauty of a can of beans.

Typical barbecue baked beans are made with white beans and are much sweeter than cowboy beans. We used to eat cowboy beans in Texas and I don't like them as well as typical southern baked beans. As others have said, they are made with pinto beans rather than white beans, and they have a slightly sweet sauce ("authentic" Texas cowboy baked beans, as I was told when I lived in Dallas, are not very sweet at all, but Disney adds something of a sweet barbecue sauce to some of theirs). I think that is what they serve at Flame Tree Barbecue. They call them "signature baked beans" at Flame Tree. Can't remember if those are the same as the ones at HDDR. I still have to add barbecue sauce to make them sweet enough for me.
