Hi everyone,

I locked several threads yesterday that deal with Covid-related topics. As you all know, we have a rule regarding this topic due to the toxicity and misinformation. At the same time, I understand the importance of being able to discuss testing and vaccination proof, especially when travelling to Disney and other destinations.

I would like to ask that you guys create just a couple of threads to address the Covid-related topics, and let's keep the discussions to those threads. Vague thread titles should be avoided. I think if everyone works to do that it will be easier to find/share important information, and you'll also free up your first page to include other discussions.

Seriously, why are all the threads suddenly locked? The one started today with info about PCR testing in Orlando, locked, with no replies. The one regarding BeeperMD, locked.

These threads are helpful to many of us. Plenty of people are in the dark and looking for answers, and these threads are a way to get them, from those who have been there and are happy to help.

Locking every single thread that has anything to do with Covid is not helpful. Why on earth was the PCR testing in Orlando thread locked? We are trying to start threads, and help others, and answer questions. Lets not lock every single helpful thread on here please.

Having to deal with covid rules and regulations is probably the number one topic regarding Disney planning right now for Canadians. We can't get to Disney without testing and following protocols and we can't get home from Disney without testing and following protocols. It is so very helpful to have the experience of others to help navigate the everchanging rules and regulations.

Canadians have more hoops to jump through than US travelers and locking important threads is not helpful. Unlike other threads on other parts of the Dis, all the discussions here have been helpful and polite. Please explain why our threads keep getting locked?

Perhaps someone could start a Facebook group for Canadian travellers to share information about travel to Florida?

We generally have been doing our best to follow the rules set forth but they can be confusing. For the most part we aren’t debating or arguing. It’s just a massive amount of information that is changing all the time.

We have rules to cross by land, tests to find, a separate set of rules by air, an app to use, quarantine rules, insurance .. and then out of nowhere the other day the rules were changed again to include possible fines for coming home Covid positive. It’s a dizzying amount of info, even before we leave home.

We do police eachother to not make it political or argue and have been doing pretty well in that regard.

None of the discussions are rude or controversial or argumentative. We’re just all navigating how we can travel. These are legitimate hurdles we face as Canadians. There are so many requirements and they change all the time. If we want to travel to Disney we need to be able to discuss these topics.

I sent a private message to MaryJo yesterday asking her to possibly let one of our information threads stay open with a sticky. She seemed amenable to that. She possibly hasn't had time to do this yet
I also wonder whether there is more than one moderator locking threads.🤷‍♀️
These posts have been incredibly helpful and necessary to planning as a Canadian.

I did a quick search and there already is one...may head over there.
there are many people here who use this as their only social media, don't have Facebook. I use most of the others but the DisBoards have always been my chosen method of Disney planning information- I don't need to navigate all the other nonsense

I agree with this. I have not run across any threads that have anything to do with the "Noise" of Covid and if there is anyone that dives down that rabbit hole then let's just take care of those seemingly rare posts. I must say for myself personally I would have never come across the info with regards to the "New" issues coming back across the land border. It's quite possible that small tidbit of information potentially saved our family $10,000. Also, testing information is another thing that has saved our family time/money/hassle. I feel that truly the only information that seems to be valid right now for traveling Canadians is first-hand knowledge and experience, which I believe we are all sharing as questions arise.
I have committed more time in the last 6 months to the DISboards then ever before as I feel it's somewhat of a responsibility to share what we have experienced in our trip to Anaheim in October and to WDW in November/December.

I can understand not wanting to be on FB. I'm only on it to join groups concerning my various hobbies (example...trailer maintenance). The mods of these groups are very quick to block those who do not stay on topic. It's just a thought/suggestion as an option if the personal experience of other travellers re covid restrictions is unwelcome on DisBoards. I did join the FB Cdns travelling to WDW group and all of the topics being locked here are enthusiastically being discussed there. I have no plans to go to WDW but hope to go to Uni in either Oct 2022 or Mar 2023 so the info is pertinent.

@WebmasterMaryJo if you could open up the switch health thread as well. It would be extremely helpful for those of us who are not depending on the free testing and have purchased a kit to use to test so we can get back into Canada. That would be extremely helpful as well :flower3:
I added the links to the thread I created if that helps I’ll be trying out the antigen one next Friday 🙂

I'd respectfully request that the moderator who is locking the threads consider the content of the posts inside them.

We as Canadians still need to respect and abide by COVID-19 travel requirements and regulations, including testing, that are all relevant to travelling to Disney World and/or Disneyland. And we all appreciate (at least I do) having a forum to discuss them and ask advice from our fellow travellers.
