I get to spend my Birthday in my Favorite place in the whole world!

Cast of Characters

Melanie – I’ll be turning 38 on our trip this year. I’m the crazy planner who makes sure our trips are MAGICAL! I grew up going to Disney Land several times for a few days here or there.

DH Bill- 43 - He loves WDW too, but he would never admit how much. One of 8 kids and he never got to travel as a kid. It took many years to get him to enjoy spending money on vacations. I knew he was hooked when in 2005 (our best trip ever so far), after 2 weeks in the World he said “I can get another week off, can you?” I wish I had the kind of job I could get another week off, but I didn’t.

DD15 Taryn – Has been brought up vacationing at WDW and is adamant that the only place to stay is either at the Pop Century or All Star Movies, nothing else is Disney enough!!

DS9 Ryan – Has been to going to WDW since he was 18 months old.

Here are our WDW trips we have taken so far.

1994 – September 3 nights at the Disneyland Hotel –
Taryn’s first taste of Disney. She was 2 and we drove to WDW from Las Vegas (my home). She would not see any of the characters and wasn’t freaking out by them, just wouldn’t go near them. Then we took her to eat at Goofy’s Kitchen. She freaked out when she saw Rafiki. Luckily this was the end of our trip.

1995- Sept. 2-10, 8 nights at the Best Western Buena Vista Suites.
Our first trip to WDW! Taryn was 3 years old and was still scared of the characters. I remember some ride scaring her at Epcot, and then we couldn’t get her on the Ford Mo. Company attraction (prior to Test Track). We flew down on free American Airlines tickets and had a change of planes in Miami – Never again!

1996- November 28 – December 8, 10 nights at the Shades of Green –
I was successful in talking DH to go back. He really enjoyed his first trip and somehow some way, I knew I’d talk him into going back. Our first Thanksgiving trip.
DS was born in 1997, so we didn’t go back till he was 18 months old.

1999 – November 23-December 5, 11 nights at the All Star Movies.

2000 – September 23-30, 7 nights at the All Star Movies
This year we went with my MIL and two SIL’s. Our first trip driving because of MIL and unfortunately now DH prefers driving.

We didn’t go in 2001 because I got a new job – but I knew we would be back.

2002- November 23-December 8, 15 nights at the All Star Movies.

2003 – November 13-22 - 9 nights at the Contemporary
Our first stay at a Deluxe resort. Bill and I loved it, but Taryn and Ryan felt it wasn’t Disney enough!

2004 -November 20 – December 5 – 15 nights at the All Star Movies

2005- July 16-31, 15 nights at the Pop Century
Our best trip ever! It was our first summer trip (except for September’s) and we went to Busch Garden in Tampa, had two beach days at Cocoa Beach and our second beach day included getting to see the space shuttle launch in Titusville.

2006 -July 29-Aug 13, 16 nights at the Pop Century
Click here for my 2006 trip report- I need to work on finishing it. It's all written. I actually wrote it each night while at the hotel.
While this trip was fabulous it didn’t have the same feel as the prior trip. DH was taking a promotion and he really didn’t like the new work he was going to be doing. I think there was a lot of internal thinking that put a damper on this vacation. That and he brought a small poker game with him and he would play it too late into the night. I’ve nixed him even bringing this game on future trips. We had 2 beach days again as well as doing a hot air balloon ride on our first beach day. That was an awesome unforgettable experience.

So here we are and its 2 months 1 week and 6 days till our Disney Vacation. The anticipation is almost killing me, but I also don’t want it to end or be over.
