Courtesy Holds

So I'm still trying to get some sort of discount for my trip in November, I really want a room only discount. Someone in an earlier thread mentioned people having courtesy holds that will expire because of non-payment.

Question: How long is a courtesy hold AND if the room is released when is that? Are we talking midnight, 6am???

When I booked last week on August 1st, She said they could put it on hold until August 8th..

However, I'm not sure what time.

I spoke to a CM earlier today who said that when the courtesy holds expire, the rooms would become available but not the discount, at least not automatically. Disney would only open up more discounts if the vacancies hit a certain %. No idea if this is correct or not though but that is what the CM told me.

As the pp indicated, courtesy holds are done for 7 days. When you book over the phone, you can have 7 days in which to make the deposit (if you book online, the deposit is due at time of booking). If the deposit isn't paid by 10 pm eastern on that 7th day (like aaarcher86 posted), the reservation will automatically cancel. With that said, the room would technically be released by the following morning, although I'm not sure if/when they go back into the discount pool or rack rate.
