Just found out we are moving to Dallas next summer.

I'm a couponer. I've got Publix, Kroger, Aldi, Ingles, Walmart, Super Target in Atlanta. Kroger, Publix and Ingles all double coupons up to $.50 value.

What is grocery shopping like in Dallas? any double coupons? Where are the best deals?

Any good blog/websites for local deals/saving money.

Also, where are the good schools? Can't afford Highland Park.

Thanks.

Grocery stores will vary depending on your neighborhood. You will commonly find Walmart, Target, Albertsons and Tom Thumb. I think some areas still have Kroger, but I am not positive. I don't coupon so sorry I can't help you with that.

Ali is starting to pop up in some areas. Lots of dollar type stores with discounted goods and some of the larger dollar stores carry not only dry goods, but produce and frozen foods.

Organic style stores include Central Market and Sprouts. Dallas also has a Farmers market.

CityData.com is good resource for more info., especially for school info. I don't know how close to downtown you want to live, but if you are trying to avoid a long commute to the downtown area, you may want to check out the Preston Hollow area.

I live more toward the Fort Worth end of the Dallas/Fort Worth area but I find it hard to coupon shop at a lot of stores here. I enjoy doing my best coupon shopping at Tom Thumb and occasionally Kroger or Albertsons. There's a lot of restrictions on couponing here, a lot of stores don't double or triple coupons anymore and only accept 1-2 like coupons and don't do multiple transactions. You just have to call around once you get here and find the store that will work best for you. So far, Tom Thumb and Kroger are the ones we can get the best coupon deals. Aldis exist here, but I haven't seen a Publix. Super Targets are all over the place, don't worry about finding one of those. I also enjoy shopping at Central Market. It's not hard to coupon shop there, it's just a matter of finding products that have coupons available since it's mostly specialty items, and they often have some good deals to promote seasonal products (like this last summer, you bought a $5 pack of speciality hot dogs and you got an 8 pack of buns, a big jar of sauerkraut, a container of mustard, a small jar of speciality ketchup, 2 liter of soda, and a bag of black bean chips for free).

What area of Dallas are you needing to commute to for work? Based on that, I can try to recommend some areas.
