I have decided there is a whole world of savings when it comes to coupons. But keeping them organized so they don't take over my kitchen counter is a must.

I purchased an organizer with make yourself tabs.

I have organized much - but still have some leftover misc items.

What "tabs" do you have in your organizer?

Health & Beauty
Paper
Cleaning products
Beverages
Cereal
Meat
Canned (which includes things in jars)
Frozen
Junk food
Free
Restaurants
Other

This works for me with the flow of my grocery store. I have been using this "model" for 15 years. Others may have a better system, but if I have too many categories I forget.

I also use the front pocket for rainchecks. When I am looking at the add at home, I will pull coupons for stuff I know I need and move them to the front pocket to make it easier at the store. I tend to freak out new cashiers with my 50 items and 48 coupons, but they get used to me (I also shop for the food pantry).

I use a small accordian filer for my coupons. These are the tabs I have:

Snacks
Breakfast
hygiene Products
Misc Sauces
Entrees
Frozen Food
Breads
Soup
Pet Supplies
Cheese
Side Dishes
Desserts
Dairy
Fruit
Cleaning Products
Meats
Salad
Non-Grocery
Drinks
Restaurants

I'm doing this from memory --- so I might skip one or two:

Baking (this is cake mixes, bread mixes, chocolate chips, etc)
Breads
Breakfast foods (everything but cereal)
Cereals
Cleaning Supplies
Crackers/Snacks
Dairy
Dressings/Oils
Frozen Foods
Fruit (includes jams and jellies and fruit juices)
Meat
Medicine
Misc
Paper/Plastic (paper towels, toliet tissue, plastic wrap, etc)
Pasta/Rice
Restaurants
Sauces/Spreads
Toiletries

Good luck!!

This is the brand of coupon organizer I use and swear by I added there link. I think you can find them on ebay also and I recently contacted them because I lost my leather coupon organizer and needed a replacement. They will soon be available in bed bath and beyond. Even if you don't buy this brand I definitely think its worth looking at to get an idea of what you should look for in a coupon wallet. Though I can attest to having this brand and having it last forever or until you loose it lol.

I organize by row for my preferred grocery store and then I have personal goods (ie shampoo, first aid, medication etc), paper goods, and cleaning/laundry. I also have a misc I use for like batteries, restaurants etc..

I do use a commercial organizer, but I ignore the actual listings on it and just bunch by aisle. That way I just have to look in one place for everything commonly found in the same aisle.

I also try to pull out coupons for anything I know I plan to buy before I go to the store, that way I am only picking out coupons for things I hadn't decided on, left off my list, or were on sale and I couldn't resist (which isn't a lot).
