A little while back, a new member was asking for ideas on how to organize her coupons. I posted about my index card box, etc., since that has worked for me for years.

Well, a couple of other posters came on and mentioned their method: The binder with the baseball card holder pages. One person even posted a picture of hers so people would "get" the concept. I was inspired by their method and tried it and all I can say is:

THANK YOU

This has GOT to be the greatest idea of ideas!! Talk about being completely organized, having "pockets" for each type of coupon, pockets in the front/back of the binder for the store circular, and ability to put in a plastic pencil pouch to keep my scissors, calculator, pen.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Oh, and thanks again!!!!! :banana::cheer2::goodvibes:grouphug:

My friend introduced me to that too and it is awesome. :thumbsup2 I have never been able to use as many coupons as with this method. It takes time but it great to find stuff and then use it. I even pull the coupons that I will use that week and place them in a store specific card holder, so they are ready to go. Get ready to be stopped in the grocery store and asked about it. :goodvibes I get stopped at least once a week. Good luck, Marriedmyprince

i used to use this method and I loved it. I have been going to surplus grocery outlets lately though and dont use coupons as much, but it is a great way to organize them.

That's how I do it too! You'll get some weird looks, but you'll also get lots of people who are genuinely interested in your binder.

I'm making one for my coupon-loving, super organized sister for Christmas. She uses the file system.

I would love to see a picture of this system because mine stinks! It's the old paper clip a stack method and it's not working for me at all. :sad2:

I used to get stopped all the time with my index card holder --- even some husbands would point it out to their wives and then ask about it! LOL! I can just imagine the questions I'll get on the binder. I don't mind, though. The more couponers, the better!!!!

I don't know how to upload pics to the forum, so I'll try to describe it the best I can:

You need:

1" binder

pkg of baseball card holder page (you find these near the baseball cards in the toy department in Target or WalMart)

Something to use as labels --- whether you have a PTouch, a label maker, or just label stickers

a plastic pencil pouch that has the 3 holes in it to put it in the binder

How to:

Take your pages and label them. The holders on the pages are 3 across and 4 down. I usually use a row across for each category.

Label your pages: Dairy, Frozen Food, Frozen Snacks, Pasta, Sauce, Rice, etc Whatever works best for you and your organizational needs.

The last page of my book is for store-specific coupons. On the first page, I have a row for "today's coupons" and that's where I put the coupons I'm going to use as I pull them out while shopping. This way, they're easy to access at checkout.

Slip your coupons in each holder (you may have to trim them down or even fold the bigger ones)

That's it!

I just purchased these items last week to make a binder. My only problem is after cutting out all the coupons, I am finding most of them too large to fit in the pockets. Just curious if anyone has a solution for this? Thanx so much!

i fold them so i can still see the pix of the product.:cool1:

I either trim them down as small as possible w/o interfering w/the UPC or the exp date. For the larger ones, I just fold it in half and make sure the pic is showing so I know what it's for w/o having to pull it out.

I sorted mine alphabetically, it made more sense for me. That way, I didn't have to remember where I put a certain coupon, I just needed to know the name of the product.

Wouldn't it have been easier to use categories like Dairy, Meat, Frozen, Cereals, Snacks, etc?

So that I don't have to fold most of the larger coupons, I use photo pages instead of baseball pages. There are only 3 pockets per page but they are so much larger than the card size. I have to fold IPs (printable coupons) but most everything else fits nicely.

I suggest that people start out with a binder larger than 1" which will quickly be outgrown, especially if you get more than one insert each week (which is recommended to take advantage of the best deals, btw).

I use a 4" binder left from grad school LOL

I followed this link and my jaw dropped! :cloud9: I would never have thought up such a system on my own. I just love it and I'm soooo going to get started on setting one up for myself. I'm going to gather the materials this weekend. Hopefully, I can find the sectioned dividers without having to drive all over town! Since we are a small family of 3, I'm going to begin on a smaller scale. I'm just thrilled to have a plan and the photos...thanks for posting everyone!
