coupon decoding $1 doubler

ok so i was sitting here baffled by how to understand what to do with the four $1 coupon doublers that i have to my local stop & shop and figured this was the place to ask. first question- i have a coupon that says "limit one per purchase" is this per transaction or per item? you see for some reason we got 3 of one coupon circular this weekend, and the only coupon useful other than the one for candy was the johnson's baby product one since we are going to a shower next month. can i buy three products, use three coupons with the doubler in one transaction? does each item count as a purchase or each transaction?

also i have a coupon that says do not double. since it is the stores coupon to double does that count as doubling it since i assume they are not charging these companies to double their coupons? help this is lingo that is new to me, i mean the first time i really used coupons and had the register automatically double the ones under $1 i was dumbfounded, i thought the cashier was just scanning each one twice by accident.

If you buy 3 Johnson's bath products, you will be able to use 3 coupons (1 coupon per item). Then use 3 of the "$1 Doubler" coupons on top of that, and you will essentially get $2 off of each item.

I love when Stop & Shop does the "$1 Doubler" coupons, I can usually get things for free by combining coupons with sales. I got 4 boxes of pasta for free this week - Barilla pasta was on sale for $1/box; I had 2 coupons for $1 off of 2 boxes, then used 2 of the "$1 Doublers," which made it $4 off of 4 boxes = FREE!

ETA: I think S&S doubles all coupons, even if they say "Do Not Double" on them. At least, I've never noticed coupons not getting doubled when I look over my receipt.

Each item counts as one purchase. You can purchase multiple items all within one transaction.

Normally when a coupon says 'do not double' the extra discount isnt deducted when they swipe the doubler coupon. Most of the time our local cashiers will just manually allow the max, regardless of whether the coupons are allowed to double or not. If they scan it though it may not automatically give you that discount.
