OK, we leave day after tomorrow (Yeah!) and will be spending a long weekend at Vero Beach. (REALLY looking forward to it!)

I have a couple questions...

What is the best route to take from WDW? We'll be starting out from the WL.

And, does anyone know the fax number for Vero?

Thanks so much! I plan to come home with a camera full of Vero Beach (and other resort) pictures and can't wait to share them with everyone!

The fax number from the Member Guidebook is 772-234-2030.

The easiest way is to take 528/the Beeline across to the coast and then take I-95 down. The detailed directions are also in the guidebook and probably are printed on your confirmation but here they are.

Take 417 north/The Greenway to 528 East
Take 528 East/The Beeline (toll road) east to I-95 south.

I-95 south to 512 East (Exit 156 old exit 69).
Make a left onto County Road 512
Follow 512 to U.S. 1 (6.5 miles)
Turn right/south on U.S. 1 to 510 (4.5 miles)
Turn left/east on 510 to A1A (2.5 miles)
Turn right onto A1A; the resort is immediately on the left. (You'll see it).

The drive across the Beeline is mostly ranchland and the drive down I-95 is pure highway. Don't plan on having much of anywhere to stop. You also go through a bit of a depressed area when you get I-95 but don't let that worry you. Millionaire's row is right over U.S. 1.

Have a wonderful trip and I look forward to hearing about your stay.

Thanks PamOKW!

D'oh about the fax number being in the Member Guidebook! :o Should have looked there first.

As to the directions, I thought I remembered people talking about taking another route to Vero, but this one will work just fine!

I've taken Florida's Turnpike to State Road 60 into Vero. You then have to get over to A1A and head back north to get to the resort. However, I wouldn't recommend this for a first time trip. It's okay if the weather is nice (not very scenic either) but can be a nightmare if it gets stormy. SR-60 is a busy two-lane road with only ditches and entrance gates to ranches on either side.

There is another way to get across to I-95 but I'm not sure of the specifics and it involves going on local roads with traffic lights. You can also go over to A1A around Melbourne which gives you a more scenic ride along the coast but adds about a half-hour to the trip.

hmmm... thanks again... So many options! :) I've very comfortable driving around Florida and have been to Vero once before, but this was after being in Melbourne, so we zipped down 95.

I'll probably take the beeline/95 route since that sounds like the quickest in all weather. Not that I expect any RAIN while we're in Florida in July! ;)

... Gotta finish packing! :teeth:

Beeline to I95 is the simplest and probably quickest. I've taken the 192 to I95 before, but I was leaving before the "regular" traffic gets onto the 192 so I was confident I wouldn't get held up there. You see a little more of "Florida" on that route, but it's not much more LOL

I agree with Pam,the above route is the one we always take and it is the easiest and quickest. It is 114 miles from OKW to VB. If you are going from the airport(MCO) to VB it is 96 miles.

We went last year and took advice from a Disney Chap @ OKW & went across the 192 to Melbourne beach & had lunch before driving down the coast road [ A1A ] which goes past the entrance to Vero Beach , which is located immediately after the traffic lights @ Wabbaso on the left.
The A1A is a very scenic run from Melbourne. If you get chance the Mcarty Treasure Museum is good @ a dollar a head !It's next to the Sabastian Inlet to Indian River Lagoon [ OUTSTANDING ]
