It's that time again! Planning our anniversary trip to WDW! :cool1:

Two transportation questions...

1... We're thinking about spending our time between two resorts this year. How do we move from one to the other, mid-trip?

and 2... we're considering visiting Universal this year (haven't been there in YEARS!)... How's the best way to get from, say the Poly, to Universal? We don't want to rent a car since this will be our only off-property visit.

Thanks!

1. You can call luggage services and they will transfer your luggage for you. Then you can catch a bus/boat or monorail to the new resort to check in. Your luggage will arrive later. Bring a carryon type bag with you for things you may need for the day. Or you can get a cab.

2. Again a cab is one option or you can go online and look up LYNX bus services online (Orlando Public Transportation) You can catch a bus from the Ticket and Transportation Center but I have never done it.

Thanks Sandi. The luggage was my biggest concern. I didn't think they'd take kindly to us lugging it on the monorail. :rotfl2: TOTALLY forgot about luggage service.

Didn't realize we could catch a regular bus at the TTC. That's GREAT! I'll look into that more.

Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

I doubt the Lynx bus will be a good option for you. You would have to make a transfer, possibly two. It can take over an hour. I know the DIS has an offer that is about $85 for 2 parks/1day, plus transportation to US/IoA. It's via the Mears shuttle bus..it's not personalized but it is affordable. Try this link....

As for moving from one resort to another one at WDW...I do it fairly often. I have used Disney to move my luggage but have found that it can take quite a long time. I would hand off my luggage before 8am, then head to a park for the morning. Around lunchtime, or a bit later, I would take the bus to the 'new' resort. I could get checked in, and sometimes have been able to get right into my room. But, I have always had to wait until well past 5pm to get my bags....that is an annoyance for me. I think that now, when I move from resort to resort, I will take a cab in the early morning, and move my luggage myself. Yes, it will have to go into storage at the 'new' resort but at least I'll be able to access it when and if I need to. And when I get into my room, I can have it right away.

As for getting to Universal, it looks like other posters have pointed out that may be pretty expensive, and a long trip. You might consider renting a compact car for just that day. It can be less than that $85 price that goofy4tink mentioned for the Lynx bus, and you can rent cars from the Dolphin or at the Car Care Center.

Ah...that $85 includes admission to both parks that day. I have found park admission (2parks/1day) to be about $84 pp...so if you are prepared to pay an addtl $2, you get transportation there. If you drive yourself, you have to pay for the car and then for parking. A bus will run you more than that $2 pp...and it will take quite awhile to get there by bus.
From what I understand....if you book that particular package (through DU), you just call Mears the night before you wish to go to US/IoA, you will get a pickup time for the next morning. The Mears bus/shuttle picks you up right at your resort. Then, you can either make your return pickup time when you first call (the night before) or you can call Mears about 90 mins or so before you wish to head back to your resort.
I think it's a great deal.

Sorry, I did not realize that included park tix. Yes, that's a pretty good deal.
