What is needed at the security check point for her? We purchased her a seat on the plane so what kind of identification does she need to pass through the checkpoint? Will a copy of the birth certificate do or do they need the original?

Also how much liquid can you pack in your check in baggage? We plan on trying to pack some of her formula that we will be using for the week in the check in baggage and just stick what we need for the 2hr flight in her diaper bag.

Any help is appreciated. We will be Disney bound in 3 weeks and can't wait.

For checked bags you can pack really any amount you want, just keep in mind how much liquid weighs, it will be part of your total weight of your luggage (there is no weight exemption). Also, make sure you pack liquid formula appropriately, protecting it from spilling in your luggage (bursting open, etc.) and more importantly the luggage of your fellow travelers.

When we fly I fill (baby) bottles with water for the formula (carry ons)
I also try to bring bottles of water and it all depends on the TSA agent.

I have found there is no standard. SOme will let you bring regular water bottles for the baby, some make you pour it into a sippy cup or baby bottle. Its very annoying.

If your formula is liquid (not powder) than you shouldnt have a problem, bring whatever you want

Have you considered ordering your formula on diapers.com and having it shipped to your resort along with diapers etc? That way you dont have to pack it all!

Or, have you considered using a grocery delivery service? We used one in June and they delivered her formula and diapers (and other stuff we wanted) right to our room. A week's worth of formula weighs a lot and you don't want to go over your baggage weight limit (or as pp mentioned, have it accidentally leak all over your stuff or someone else's stuff).

Also, bring more than two hours worth of formula and diapers with you for the plane. I brought 24 hours worth of formula, food and diapers for our then 10 month old when we traveled this past June. You never know when you are going to be delayed (in the terminal, on the tarmac, or circling waiting to land). And you don't want to be in that situation of being delayed for hours (due to weather, mechanical or congestion) and have nothing for your baby.

We were not delayed on this trip, but have experienced delays in the past. A couple people I know just returned from trips where they were delayed for hours. One coming from Las Vegas took 30 hours to finally make it home (flight delayed, then cancelled, then rebooked on another flight, etc). The other circled for so long that they had to stop at another airport to refuel before they finally could land at their destination.

With it being summer and hurricane season revving up, there could be delays.

Thanks for the advice. We might just pick up the weekly supply when we stop by walmart down there since that seems like the easiest route to have everything for the week and just pack 24hrs worth of formula during the flight.

Also what about baby food? Can we pack as much of that (in moderation) as we need in her diaper bag?

It will depend on the mood of the TSA agent checking your stuff. Don't worry, for a 2 hour flight, you shouldn't have any problems carrying on what you'll need.

I always packed 24 hrs of baby supplies (formula, baby food, diapers, etc) for flights. You never know when you might experience a flight delay or cancellation.

When my youngest was a baby, we ordered diapers, wipes, and baby food from Gardengrocer.com - they deliver right to the resort. If he had been on regular formula, I would have ordered that from Gardengrocer too. Since Ds was on special formula, I ordered it directly from Enfamil and had it shipped to the resort.

Just had a thought...you are saying your 1 year old. How many months will your child be? For us that 1 year mark was when the Ped had us get rid of the formula and switch to milk.

For that we would buy a container of milk once past security right before boarding and put ice in her bottle, pour the milk in, then put it in her her diaper bag. It has an insulated pocket for bottles. Kept it cold enough until she drank it and did the same thing when we changed planes. More expensive than buying gallons of milk, but we considered it part of traveling. At that point she wouldn't drink juice (I know strange kiddo, huh?)

Anyway, I guess I didn't look to see how if your signature listed your child's age or when your trip is, but just wanted to put that out there.

Have a great trip.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that since we are in the transition to where she's almost drinking straight milk but we only give her organic milk and I'm not sure we would be able to find it after security so we might have to pack some before. Do you think that would give us issues?

Good thing is she will drink juice so we could always give her some of that and luckily we have a non-stop 2hr flight.

Understood that bottled water sometimes being allowed and sometimes not may be very annoying, but the official stance is that it's not. Formula and juice for infants and toddlers, sure - but water being readily available in almost every airport (if not from a vendor then at least from a water fountain), it's not one of the exempted items, even for very young passengers.

Just wanted to let OP know that you can bring really any kind of liquid for the baby (it doesn't have to formula.) If your baby is on milk, you can fill the bottles/sippy cups with milk and go through security with it. We've brought milk and juice many many times without a problem.

Yeah I read all that but I just wanted to see what people's first hand experience was since it says "in moderation." Just seeing how many jars of food or how much formula people were able to get through the checkpoint.

Just give yourself extra time to get through security.

I brought 24 hours worth of formula, baby food and her bottle of liquid meds. No problems. Just declare it at the security checkpoint so that they can inspect it if desired.

Had no problems or delay going through MCO security, they said leave everything in the diaper bag and put it through the X ray machine.

Going through our small alternate airport here (SWF) was another story (live in NY area but elected not to fly out of JKF, LGA or EWR). They basically took me aside with the diaper bag and emptied the entire thing out, then swabbed each item to check for explosives residue. I'd say when all was said and done, this took 15 minutes between them emptying the bag and me having to repack it. Despite the thoroughness of the check, not one person questioned me about the amount of formula or baby food that was in the bag.

So it was a hassle leaving our home airport, but there was never a dispute as to whether I was allowed to bring those items or about the quantity I had with me.

Good luck to you. Our daughter just switched over to organic milk also. Really looking forward to not carrying around cans of formula (she could only drink the premade, so carrying the powder was not an option :headache:). The only problem I have (like you) is finding organic milk whenever we're out and about.

Also, most airports now have a special line through security for families traveling with children and medical needs. That way if you need to declare items you don't delay other passengers who don't have kids or special needs.

We go through this line with our daughter because we have to declare all of her diabetic supplies.

Well I guess we will include more buffer time to the airport so we can declare everything through the family security line and hopefully we don't have any issues.

Yeah, we will be going through the family line. Hopefully it's not to busy since we are leaving out in the afternoon.
