I know there are 2 hotels with similar names, so the one I'm referring to is linked to above. Few questions:
1) Are there ANY hot items in the continental breakfast? Any oatmeal, waffles, etc.?
2) Is there an elevator for the higher floors
3) are the cribs actual cribs or pack n plays? (I like to bring my own sheets for the baby that smell like home to help him sleep better!)

I can only answer the first two.

1. There was a toaster and bread and bagels. I am also 99% sure there was oatmeal.

2. Yes, there are multiple elevators.

Sorry, no help on the crib, DS was well past crib age when we started going to Disneyland.

You didn't ask this but we have stayed at DI&S 3 times. Decent motel, great wifi, not very noisy, very close and if you book early enough it is the least expensive of the very close motels. Also, great for families. Our first time there we got a suite which was 2 rooms with 2 queen beds in each, 1 1/2 bathrooms and it was perfect since DS needed a nap every afternoon and he went to bed early so dh and I could watch tv without worrying about waking DS up.

The only hot items are toast or bagels and plain oatmeal that you can add brown sugar too. I bring my own hot food items from home to supplement their crummy continental and I put them in the freezer (frozen sausage biscuits) and heat them in the microwave. On previous trip I have brought my own flavored oatmeal since my DS prefers that and oatmeal packets travel well.

There breakfast isnt much to speak of but its more than you get at tropicana (which is nothing) or other places that have eliminated breakfast all together.

Yes there are elevators.

I have never been there with a crib age child so I cant help you there-but I griseff is there now and her DS is used to a crib and she planned to put him on the pull out in the entry way room of the parlor suite ad use inflatable bed rails with him.

There is plenty of room to put up pack and play in the sink area but I think a full size crib would be pushing it.

I have room pictures so you can get an idea of space in my as yet unfinished trip report

Thank you both!

We have a "parlor suite" so plan to put the 5 year old on the pull out couch and the 2 year old in the crib, hopefully in the same "front room". Plan B is putting the 5 year old in one of the queen beds in the bedroom with my & DH and the 2 year old in the crib in the front room (if the crib/pack n play won't fit with the pullout couch pulled out).

I've never heard of inflatable bed rails...off to google! Though he has never slept outside of a crib or pack n play so I'm not sure I want to test the waters on vacation...

We might have had the "Parlor Suite" a couple weeks ago (got upgraded at checkin from a regular "suite" so I am not sure the name of the room we ended up in) and I do NOT believe there will be room for a pack and play in the same room with the sofa bed pulled out. It was pretty tight in there when my 9 yo was in that sofa bed. The stroller would barely make it past the end of the bed between the bed and the cabinet the TV was standing on.

Sounds the same:

Just as a side note. We found that front room to be pretty noisy. In our room, there was a decent size gap between the door and the frame and so in the morning and at night when folks are heading in or out it would get pretty loud.
We ended up putting our pack n play between one of the queen beds and the wall.

I have also found the rooms upfront to be noisier-the rooms in back are much quieter but the furniture and carpets are more worn That was the major thing I got from being back there on our trip this month-I never was bothered but hearing people but It seemed a bit shabbier. When I stayed up front the furniture did have so many scratches, the carpets seemed newer, but it was noisy in the early morning and late at night when a lot of families were headed in or out (or when people seemed to just let their kids run amok screaming and playing tag on the walkways :headache:)

And I was there at the same time that ten6mom was there and I "spotted" her :wave2: which was funny

This past Friday while in the park we decided to try to stay for one more night and surprisingly I was able to book this hotel around noon for $99 for a deluxe room. Awesome deal! This was our first time staying here. Checked in at 3pm and had to wait for four elevator trips until we could finally get on since the line of people checking in with luggage was so long and the maids were trying to switch floors with their carts. Ended up using the stairs to the 3rd floor the rest of the day since there was a line again when we returned after park closing and on Saturday morning for rope drop. Didn't do the breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Beds were horrible and very hard (about the same as Del Sol's beds). Of course the walking distance to the parks was awesome.

The Desert Inn is always our go to hotel when visiting Disneyland. No shuttle, no long walk, great prices and larger clean rooms for my 4 kids. We are there for Disney, not the hotel. That being said, it is a very basic motel. 2 in 1 shampoo and bar soap with no lotion kinda motel. The breakfast has the same kind of mentality. I can just imagine the meeting when they talked about the breakfast...."What is the least amount we can give and still call this a continental breakfast?" I was surprised on my last visit to find hard boiled eggs!! The oatmeal is plain, the bread is cheap, the cereal needs sugar, the juice is watered down. BUT, are you going to convince me to stay somewhere else? Probably not. My kids don't mind cereal and toast for breakfast. I bring already cooked turkey sausages (from Costco), and dried fruit to add to the oatmeal. Plus fresh fruit and now I have a hard boiled egg! Staying anywhere else close by would close me at least $40 a night. We could eat at McD's for that price. And if I save a little on the hotel, I can go more often!!

BTW: My next trip in Dec the ADIS was sold out..... So we are staying at the Grand at the Park. It better hold up to my "standards"!!

I'm guessing you'll find the Grand to be along the same lines as Desert Inn....from what I've read their "new hot breakfast" isn't that great, but we just need something to get us started (plus we'll make a grocery store run once we see how much room we have in the fridge).

DIaS is one of our main go to places as well (along with Tropicana but I am pretty sure Grand Legacy has some amenities that DIaS doesn't have (like the roof top bar and more options with provided toiletries) as well as being more recently remodeled. I dont need much in a room at DL since its just a place to sleep for the way I vacation but I dont think you will hate being in a nicer room. What being said when I was looking as grand legacy it was quite a bit more than DIaS (I book DIaS for half of what grand legacy was asking even with the AP discount) and I like saving money on my room so I have more money to stay longer or come back more often when I can.
