Couple of ticket questions

I'm sure the answers are already on here, but with the search function temporarily down, please bear with me.

I just booked a package for early May. I know I clicked on the park hopper option for the tickets, but I guess it didn't take because my reservation says base ticket only. I am flying solo this trip, so I am not really planning. Just going wherever I feel like it. If I wait to add the park hopper during my trip, and I've used a day or two already, will the PH option be pro-rated or will I be paying the rate of the full base ticket?

Also, I'm planning to upgrade to an AP since I know I'll be heading back one or two more trips before next May. I know that in the past it was best to take the tickets of the KTTW card so that dining isn't' messed up. But how would that work now that they are using the Magic Bands? Has anyone had any trouble with the dining plan after upgrading on the new system?

There is no prorating on hopping. It's a flat fee whether you have a 2 day ticket or 10 day.

Thanks, I couldn't remember. I will just see if I can add the PH option when I call to make my final package payment, rather than wait until I get down there since that's the case.

Did you book your tickets after the Feb 23, 2014 ticket price increase? If so, no worries. If before the price increase, any changes now and you will have to pay the increase in price on the tickets you have ordered. To get around that, wait to check-in at WDW, pick-up your tickets as-is, use the tickets to enter a park, then do the upgrade at the park, not at your hotel. If the tickets have been used, Disney will price-bridge your tickets to current gate price before doing the upgrade. PH is now $60 + tax = $63.90. That's what you should expect to pay.

If you're going to upgrade your ticket to AP, there's no sense buying the park hopper. The AP will have it. Plus, if you're thinking the AP will be dated as the date you bought it, that's incorrect. It's dated to the first day's use of your original ticket. That's how you get credit for your entire original ticket, used or not. So, again, use your original ticket to enter a park, then go ahead and upgrade to AP. I haven't read of any problems with the dining plan getting messed up, as used to happen with the KTTW card. That seemed to have been rectified during the KTTW-era. And there's benefits to having an AP; you might as well start using it.

That makes even more sense. I just booked as a spur of the moment trip, so it was after the price increase.

I swear I don't know where my head is tonight...
