So we just booked the three night Dream Cruise 11/4th, 5th & 6th. We are planning on hitting the first night of the Very Merry Christmas Party immediately following the cruise on the 7th.

Any suggestions on pulling off the logistics of this? We would obviously need to get from the airport to the port on Thursday night or Friday morning, then get to the Disney area after we disembark. No rush, since the party tickets don't get you in until 4:00. Also, any suggestions on a place to stay on Monday night? I was thinking of one of the Disney Springs hotels? Doesn't have to be spectacular since we are pretty much just using it for a place to sleep.

Thanks!

Have you considered staying on property and using Disney transportation?

DME is from the airport to your Disney resort....free.
DCL transportation gets you and your luggage from your Disney resort to the ship and from the ship to your Disney resort.....$35 per person per trip.....$70 round trip per person.

Pre-cruise:
  • If you stay at a Disney Springs area hotel the night before the cruise, you will have to arrange private transportation from MCO -> hotel as well as hotel -> Port. Or use a rental car, which might be your least expensive option. Same if you stay at a Port Canaveral area hotel. We've done this with a one-way car rental and it worked out well.
  • You could stay at the MCO Hyatt the night before the cruise and take DCL transfers from MCO -> Port. I like this option if arriving in the evening. As diznymom suggests, you can stay at a WDW resort and take ME then DCL transfers to Port.
Post-cruise:
  • I would opt to stay at a WDW resort and use DCL transfers. It might cost more but is convenient. You can check-in and hang-out at the pool until ready to go to the party.
  • Another option is to stay at Disney Springs and either rent a car or arrange private transfers.

Magical Express (ME) to/from MCO and WDW resorts is free.
DCL transfers run to/from MCO/Port Canaveral or WDW/Port Canaveral and cost $35 per person one way ($70 round trip) for either option.

Enjoy your cruise!

If there are more than 3 of you, private transportation might be cost effective or at least a break even, but it would give you the option to control the pick up times.

While convenient, DCL transfers will be pricey for six. I'd look into a private limo service or renting a mini-van (do the math for both round-trip plus parking or 2 one-way rentals).

Enjoy your vacation!
