Couple of questions about GCH

We will be staying at GCH and I have a couple of questions about concierge service.

Is there a different area for check-in other than the front desk? I thought I read or heard something about this before.

Also, about tipping etiquette. We normally leave the mousekeepers at WDW $5 per room per day. Is this on Par for DL? Is there anyone else other than valets (if we use them) that we should tip, turn down service, or anyone on the concierge staff?

YES! When you pull up someone comes out and asks your name. They have a list and your name will be listed under concierge. They will take you upstairs to the concierge registration desk. You don't have to wait in line and it's fast and easy!

Thank you for the quick response. That check in procedure sounds simple enough. Now I just have to make sure I tip appropriately. I would feel terrible if I later found out I stiffed one of the hard working CM at DL.

We leave $5.00 a day per room for housekeeping...for turn-down a dollar per person...left in an envelope on the bed...I usually leave this envelope after housekeeping finishes the rooms...concierge does not accept tips...I will usually leave the concierge staff a little gift at the end of our stay...

I'll have to remember to go back to the room to leave a tip for turn down service or figure out an alternative. We're usually out before housekeeping comes, and don't return to the room. I do want to take advantage of the lounge so we may be at the hotel more than we normally are.

Do you mind if I ask you some examples of gifts you have left?

Hopefully someone else has a suggestion for this...it has not been a problem so far...we travel with a child and in the afternoon it is back to the room for a rest..no not him :rotfl: US! :lmao:

This has become a game for us...thinking of something that our area is noted for...(almonds and tomatoes) then getting something that it represents... and we have also bought candy in downtown disney just some examples...hope this helps...
