Couple of questions about DDP

We will be getting/using the dining plan for the first time next month because we got it for free (with a pin code).

Okay so here are my questions....

1. At SciFi, does anyone know if you can get a milk shake as your dessert?

2. My 13 year old doesn't eat like an adult and will probably want to order things off of the children's menu at a few Table Service locations. Is he allowed to do this? I don't mind since the DDP is free (would not buy it for him knowing he wouldn't eat as an adult).

3. We check in on Wed 1/15 and check out on Monday 1/20, which is a 6 day span. We have the DDP for five days. Does it start when we check in? We'll have a half day on Wed and a half day on Monday, so we'd like to use 1 credit on Wednesday and then 1 credit and the snack credit on Monday but because that spans 6 days I want to be sure the credits won't run out on Sunday night if we start them on Wed night.

Thanks in advance!!!

1. Don't know if you can or not

2. Yes, DS ordered off almost all kids menus and he is 12.

3. You get a certain amount of credits at checkin, and have until midnight on your checkout day to use them. Use as many per day until they are gone.

Yes, they will usually allow you (an adult) to get a milkshake for your dessert. There have been some reports that you can actually get the milkshake as your drink entitlement, but it seems to vary by server. So it doesn't hurt to ask.

Yes, in most cases Adults can order from the children's menu. There were a few reports a while ago that said La Hacienda wasn't allowing non-children to order from the kids' menu, but that was a while ago. If you're paying with the DDP, it won't matter, but if you're paying with cash, he'd still be charged the adult prices at buffets, all-you-care-to-eat, dinner shows, fixed price meals, and dining packages.

The credits become available for when you check-in until 11:59:59 pm on the day you check out (in your case, Monday). You can use the credits in any combination you want (you don't have to use one TS, one CS, and one snack per day per person).

Wow thanks!

You guys rock. I love asking questions here and getting quick & accurate answers.

I'm glad I asked about the milkshake. It seemed kind of irrelevant, but if it's what makes my son happy, then I wanted to know how to handle it with the DDP. I'll try to see if we can get as our drink, but if not then he can just get one as dessert.

We're in the process of trying to choose restaurants that have actual adult entrees he might like, so that we don't have to resort to having him choose off of the children's menu.

I hope we like using the DDP! We've never wanted to try it before, but with it being free it is definitely worth giving it a shot! We have the plus one where we have one TS, one CS and one snack.

At SciFi you can order the shake as both a beverage and a dessert.
With your DS being 13, he's going to have to order off the adult menu when using the DP. Items can be left off, served plain or substituted in most places. If he truly can't find anything that he will eat on a TS menu then you can pay OOP for his meal and save his credit for another meal
