tracy

ps from rereading my own post i realise i sould like a very strange person :guilty:

:lmao: There's a lot of it about :lmao:

It depends what you mean by tacky I don't mind singing toilet roll holders or copies of the Taj Mahal made out of seashells, I've even been known to buy some of this tat whilst on my hols :guilty: , it's only when I get it back home and see the looks on visitors faces that I start wondering what ever was I thinking buying that - I swear it's the sun :sunny: just not used to it.

It's the tacky - inflatable willies :bitelip: (don't know if I'm allowed to say that) sort of things, etc. that I don't like especially when I've got my kids with me.

You certainly won't see any of them in Orlando - not that I have looked of course

I think we all have different opinions on where to stay, I am biased towards villas mainly because of our son's needs and have never stayed on-site.
This August we are staying at the Boardwalk for a few nights so we will see what it is like.

Whilst ID is good for getting around with restaurants within walking distance -having stayed there a number of times we just feel it's not the place for us anymore..and has already been said if you decide to split the holiday between the 2 it is vital you stay on I-drive first.

Personally if it's within your budget I would opt for staying on-site and at Universal.

another vote for on-site and Universal as you can get the express pass when you stay at Universal hotels. But to each his own, we love the feeling of being out of the real world when at Disney, some people find it claustrophobic.

i've also stayed at Radisson Barcelo on I Drive, in the Tower Block, lovely hotel and has a good size pool. The location is excellent, right in the middle of I Drive, with the Mercado shopping village right opposite the hotel which has plenty of different types of places to eat, various shops, the Titanic exhibition (we loved this) and entertainment and Karaoke on an evening. I Ride trolley bus is just outside hotel, with shops on either side of hotel. Definitely recommend this hotel. :Pinkbounc

We stayed at QIP in 2004, and as already said in some posts it is quieter down that end of I-drive. There are a few decent restaurants within walking distance, and although we had a car, there were shuttle buses to the parks (not sure if they were free or not!).

We would stay there again. The rooms were basic, but clean. You get a fridge, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, safe, and the room itself it actually bigger than ASMo where we stayed last year.

Depends whether you are going to holiday to stay at the hotel, or just looking for somewhere to sleep and spend more time at the parks.

We stayed in The Rosen Centre, South end of IDrive last year and loved it that much we are going back this year. It is a conference hotel which means most people staying there are on business which means the pool can be fairly empty even in July.

If you do stay on Idrive this is the best hotel , have stayed there a few times and it's in a better location.

I have stayed in the quality inn plaza, quality inn international, econo lodge etc

I really enjoyed what used to be called the gateway inn though, its down towards the belz, very nice hotel.

Also if you are booking seperate I would reccomend dreams unlimited I am using them for next years trip (the services is fantastic and you get a personal travel consultant who will deal with your booking right to the day you go)
