If I buy our APs on a block out day, I know I can use them that day.. but.. what if we go back to the hotel for awhile and then go back to the park at night.... would I run into a problem with this?? (I am very concerned about this whole first day thing.. can you tell? :) ... I do intend on upgrading our passes on our next visit, I just dont have it in the budget for this trip).

Also, I saw this on MouseSavers today... I remember hearing this awhile back but it had ended.. can anyone confirm this is still in fact being honored?
Annual Passholder Bonus Discounts Through January 31, 2012

Now through 1/31/12 all So Cal Select, Southern California and Deluxe Passport holders receive 10% off all purchases at select Disneyland Resort stores.

For the same time period, Premium and Premier Passholders receive a 20% discount (normally 10%).

*No minimum transaction amount required. Offer is valid only at select Disneyland Resort store locations (see below for excluded locations). Must show valid Annual Passport to receive Passholder benefits and/or discounts. An Annual Passholder must present his/her valid Annual Passport prior to purchases to receive any applicable benefits and discounts. Not valid on previous purchases.

Discount is not valid on purchases of DVD, VHS, software media, Walt Disney Classics Collections, original artwork, selected collectibles, food or beverage, Disney Dollars, Gift Cards, Ticket Media, Park Admission, Arcades, Newspapers/Periodicals, Tobacco, Postage stamps, digital and video cameras, disposable cameras, shipping or taxes.

Discount does not apply at the following locations: Midway games, Fairytale Arts, Jewel of Orleans, Silhouette Studio, Portrait Artists, Parasol Cart, Heraldry Shop, Crystal Shops (Crystal Arts & Crystal d'Orleans), Face Painting, or at any Downtown Disney District location other than World of Disney Store. May not be combined with any other discount, offer or promotion.

Thanks for all your help!!

Don't have any personal experience with your first question.

About the discounts though, yes, they have been extended again, so there is a 20% merchandise discount for premium AP holders, and a 10% discount for all other APs. The no minimum purchase requirement is nice too.

You should be fine going in and out of the park. Once you activate your ticket media for the day, it's good all day.

The underlying reason is it's simpler. If you couldn't enter with your new AP because of a blackout, you would either spend one less day in the parks, not buy one at all, or just buy another ticket and upgrade it. All things would mean less revenue for Disney.

Yes the merchandise discount is still in effect.

I have done the upgrade on a blockout day before and never had a problem hopping between parks or taking a break and returning.

And I was just at DL and the discounts you mentioned are still in effect. Comes in handy, too! I told DH it was like everything at Disneyland was on sale! He didn't always agree...:lmao:

I had to laugh at this because this is a little joke between my DH and me too. When at DL, we try to block from our minds the fact that many of the items for sale at DL seem to cost about 10%-20% more than they did before the discount was offered.

We were there Monday and got 15% off purchase at Pacific Wharf Cafe with a Premium AP. I think it's only 10% for the other AP.

Correct. 15% off at (most) restaurants with PAP and 10% off with the other APs. The previous discussion had been about merchandise discounts. Shouldn't ignore those food discounts though.

That's funny--my DH didn't buy that argument either! I think it's a rock-solid case. Okay, maybe not EVERYTHING since it doesn't count for DVDs...:rotfl:

I too have purchased/activated APs on a blackout day and didn't have any problems hopping or leaving and coming back later. Enjoy!
