1. Ariel Sharon calls for mass exodus of all Jews from France to Israel, naming racism as a reason.
2. President Chirac is more than a bit annoyed at having a large proportion of the French population told to move out and so tells Sharon to say sorry.
3. Ariel Sharon's aide says no, sorry, Mr. Sharon meant that the place for all Jews is in Israel...
4. President Chirac says that Mr. Sharon isn't allowed to visit France until he says sorry...

Sounds like an eight year old's feud.

there are more constructive ways to address the widespread antiSemitism French Jews are subject to than for Sharon to oversimplify the Zionist ideal of Aliyah or for Chirac to pick up his toys and go home because he doesn't like what Sharon said.
