Has anyone stayed at Country Inn & Suites Orlando Maingate/Calypso Cay? We are going in October and were planning on staying one night there, but did not know what it was like. I don't see it on the Best/Worst list, so that could be a good sign???

Would appreciate any feedback about it.

It wasn't our best, but certainly not the worst. We stayed about 5 nights here and enjoyed it. They have a good pool with zero entry and a water slide and wate shooting crabs. Two regular pools as well. They had a fun little putt-putt area as well. Breakfast was decent for continental. There were waffles and cereal, fruit, muffins, donuts, boiled eggs. We stayed in a kid suite which had a king bed and two small twin beds in an alcove with their own tv. We had a refridgerator and microwave. I am sure you will enjoy it.

We enjoyed this hotel. The kids loved the pool. It was very clean and convenient to drive to the parks. We had a rental car, so I don't know about any other bus transportation.

We stayed there for 3 days in December - really liked it. Of course, I would rather stay onsite, but the price was right ($34!!! through HOTELKINGDOM.COM) and the distance to the parks was even closer than some DTD hotels we have stayed at. We are trying to put together a quick trip in Sept. for DD's birthday, and might stay there again. Breakfast was adequate - yogurt, cereal, muffins, etc. - did the job. My dd loved going down for the popcorn at night. For the right price, it's defintely worth it.

We stayed in the Country inn and Suites in Downtown Disney for 1 night since we arrived a night early. I was very pleased with the staff and cleanliness of our room. The workers were very friendly and the overall atmosphere was nice. The kids even got a free grab bag when we checked in. :sunny:

Yes, we stayed in Calypso Cay in 9/2002. We really enjoyed our stay. They have a really nice zero entry pool, plus a decent pool slide.

We stayed there last year in August. Nice hotel. We had to change rooms because of an ant problem but the second room was fine. Hotel is extremely clean and staff is friendly and helpful. There is a Publix almost directly across the street and lots of food chains near by if you decide to eat near the hotel. There are kids activities and live music by the pool but most of this is during the early afternoon hours and we usually missed it due to be in the parks.

The pools were clean, a zero depth, a regular pool and hot tub. The mini golf course was nice and they had a volleyball area with a sand court.

Very close to Disney and Universal and Sea World. I would definately go back and stay. I love the Country Inn chain and think they are managed very well.

Breakfast is nice and has something for everyone! I went through valuetrips.com and paid 44.00 a nite.

We spent 8 nights in March. I don't think it can be beat for the rate we paid, $44/nt. I posted a review on these boards somewhere....

Thank you for all the reviews and information.

As I originally stated, we are going in October and only need it for one night as we are booked into SoG for the rest of our stay. But we have found lately, that it makes it easier to stay offsite on the day we decide to travel, then get up and have breakfast and check into our onsite hotel and go to the parks.

We just stayed at the Holiday Inn Maingate West, and my DH was not really impressed, especially with the parking (very little). There was a refrigerator in the room and it wasn't clean around the seal. But they were very nice when we called back the next day after checking out and finding that we had left our pillows. They put us through to Housekeeping and when I told her our room number and about the pillows, she said no problem she would bag and mark them with the room number. We went back that evening and picked them up.

DH did like the fact that it was only 5 minutes from the onsite hotel we stayed at.
