Counterfeit designer bags at my mall!!!

:lmao: Can I just say that I LOVE these Disboards? I hope one day I get invited to one of these illegal Disney weddings. Sounds like good times for sure!:rotfl:

I'm just picturing the entire wedding party hauling butt away from the castle..."Quick, head for Adventureland! Maybe we can lose 'em in the Pirates queue!"

No, around here they leave the actual price sticker/tag on. The one that says the store name and "$24.99" or whatever. I had seen it several times and then finally realized what it meant when I was sitting next to a group of boys at the mall. On of them had just lifted a hat and they were talking about it... (I did alert security on that one, but I don't think anything came of it.)

Not exactly original, ain't they?

Well, if I'm ever a size 8, you can bet I'm leaving the size sticker on so everyone can see! :rotfl:

I have fully enjoyed reading this thread tonight and this post made it all worth while. Thanks Ember.:rotfl2:

People have illegal weddings? I cannot even imagine that. What if someone from property starts walking towards them in the middle of the ceremony to confront them? Does everyone start running while the minister keeps doing the ceremony? Wedding on the run!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: This made me think of the Dixie Chicks song "Ready to Run" LOL

Thanks!:)

I understand what your saying. And maybe the OP does not do it in that manner (IMO that is a longshot, but still worth a consideration). There is, however, someone on this thread that I feel does do it in that manner. And I think that is wrong.

For me, if you make fun of someone having a fake vs real anything, your making fun of the fact that they cannot afford it. Because chances are that if they could, they would have a real one. Like it was stated earlier by someone, most people who buy the fake ones, want people to think they can afford the real version. So if they had the money for real, they would not be carrying around a fake.

Kristine
I don’t think anyone is faulting someone for not being able to afford a particular good. We all have different priorities and finances. If you do not wish to spend your money on specific retail possessions, I don’t think anyone will chastise your decision. However, buying fake products does open the person up to speculation and ridicule. No one bats an eye if you spend $20, $100, or $2000 on a product. That is a personal decision on how to allocate resources.

There are many quality products that can be purchased for much less than a designer product. Once again, I do not believe that the vast majority of people have a problem with this. The situation does turn with the purchase of fake goods. I don’t want to make this a blanket statement because there are always exceptions to the rule, but most people buy fake products to attain the perceived status that is attached to a label. I do not apologize if I notice that or I/The Wife makes a private comment.

The best example I can give involves a vehicle that I drove past several weeks ago. A gentleman was driving a perfectly decent mid-90’s Toyota truck with a camper/shell on the back. I never would have noticed the vehicle, but the owner had painted it and added emblems so it would resemble a Cadillac Escalade.

There is now law on how to allocate resources. People are generally not judged on their designer fashion status (minus reality shows). However, if you want to be cool buy purchasing obviously fake merchandise and devaluing a brand; do not be surprised if people make fun of you.

If you devalue a brand, don’t expect the investor’s and fans to love you. Heck, some may not even be civil. Please consider the consequences.

Then color me poor and happy about it! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I love my poor girls coach! I only buy the leather ones WITHOUT all the Cs...I can not stand the look of LV at all...to me THEY look fake and plastic...I would not want to carry something with little LVs all over it...I dont care how much it costs. My dh took me into the chanel store last time we were on vacation and said I could get something if I liked it...could not find a single one I really liked better then my coach leather bags.I could care less what other people carry...but If I am standing there I can tell if its fake, I just dont care.I only buy coach but if I could only spend 20.00 I would just buy target NOT a knock off coach because I would know it was fake.

First of all, commenting (where did the OP say she made fun of or bashed?) on someone's bag (real or fake) does not mean you don't teach your child to value the character of people. And I'm sorry but I find it hard to believe that you, or anyone else here has never commented on someone's appearance with thier child and if you say you have never done it, I have no problem calling you a liar.

Call me what you want, I don't do that with my child. He's 17 and he has enough idiots in his life to share that kind of silliness. I am his parent, and I don't waste my time with him pointing and picking at people. I'm too old and mature for that kind of ridiculousness.

I save that for the DIS!!! :lmao:

Again you are assuming that the OP was picking on someone, please tell me how stating the obvious about someone's handbag picking on them? You have never ever in all of your ds's 17 years stated something obvious about another persons appearance to him?

See, I feel exactly the same way about the LVs. Normally, I carry purses that are understated and that don't have logos all over them; the exceptions I've made are for a pink D&B It bag that I bought because a) I love pink, and b) it reminded me of a big frosted cupcake with little sprinkles all over it. And I also have a Disney D&B white tassel tote because it's Disney and it's super freaking cute! Other than those 2, mine are all leather D&B or Coach because they last for YEARS. I have my first-ever Coach bag still--it's solid navy blue, I bought it in 1993, and the only logo is from the leather tag that dangles from a little ball chain near the strap and OMG, the leather is so soft after all these years that you could just smush your face into it.

I never commented on the OP, I responded to a PP.

Strange appearance, maybe, but what they own or if it real or fake, that's not important to me. My sisters are like that, and it's always turned me off.

I grew up in the Fashion capital of the world, and was so sick of the importance that was put into what someone wears. I actually was THRILLED to come to Georgia, a place where I always say "the fashion police has no precincts!!"

I remember going back to NY one day and being told how my lipstick was not OUT and the length of my skirt was so "yesterday".... I RAN back to Georgia, a place I'm not thrilled with but I can afford and no one makes such a big deal about what's IN and OUT.

It's a personal thing for me. I always said that I'd never be able to identify a person on a line up, but I COULD tell you his attitude, not what he looked like. Growing up in a totally VISUAL household made me resent it.

I just have to tell you that after reading this post of yours and looking at your avatar, I'm :rotfl:.

I can't imagine him carrying a cute pink bag (that looks like a cupcake), can you?? :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

That would be awesome! It'd clash with his reddish hair, but if it's in the name of a cute bag, who cares?! :rotfl:

Well walking around pointing out fat people is rude too. That the person is fat is both true, and obvious, so it's okay to point out...right?

Its only rude if you point to that person and say "your fat", if you are making a general observation about someone who IS fat, then no of course it isn't rude. There are fat people in the world, just like there are blonds, or blue eyed people, pointing out obvious traits is not rude unless you are using it in a deragotory way towards that person, which I stated in another of my posts that obviously you missed.

Sometimes it is ok. I hope that my children are not obese and perhaps by witnessing obese people in certain situations they will understand the importance of exercise and a proper diet. It does not have to be malicious.
