I should add that I have a D&B (although I doubt it's highbrow enough). It's real and it was a present. I hardly ever use it because it's so darn heavy before I even put anything in it.

She's not being sarcastic. Seriously, on other threads it has been determined that D&B and Coach are NOT designer bags. Probably by the experts that claim they can spot the knockoffs a mile away.

Yes, she likes to be thorough and hates to waste money. And before anyone tells us to "get a life", let me tell you that she has 13 universities looking at her for basketball, is graduating a year early, is a member of the National Honor Society, scored extremely well on her SATs, is taking AP and Honors level courses (with a 4.2 GPA), has a steady boyfriend, a very active social life, loves to travel overseas, is an avid theatregoer and is attending a post graduate year at prep school next year so she can position herself well to attend a decent school for pre-med.

Some people plan their Disney vacations down to the minute, don't they? That's one of the things she wants to be spontaneous about! And some people analyze NASCAR, fantasy football or video games. À chacun son goût - we say, "to each his own".

Coach, D&B, Burberry etc. are what I call the "poor girl's designer bags". Chanel, Prada and Fendi...now we're talking.

To the ladies who play the real or fake game, I'd love to spot you and snicker over your real, but cheap, pseudo designer bag. I may even let you smell my Yves Saint Laurent.

I am not into handbags or purses. I don't know anything about them or care to learn. After seeing my extremly picky and hard to please sister cry one Christmas when my mother gave her a Prada purse, I know that some people do have a passion for them. That said, counterfeit items of any kind disturb me and OP, I think you did the right thing by bringing it to the attention of the right people. Someone like me might come along and buy one for previously mentioned picky sister and not have a clue.

True. One of my best friends has a handbag collection to die for. She lets me borrow some on occasion (bless her heart). However, she cringes when a random stranger will ask her if her LV is a fake or real. The average person can't spot the fake without side by side investigation and comparison. That is what bothers her the most!

This usually happens on a military base and everyone has a coach, VB or a fake LV purse. Coach and VB are made in China, LV swears their stuff is made in Europe!! when I bought my bag at the LV shop in Frankfurt, I asked how many americans buy their stuff and the salesman told me I was the first american to buy something since he had worked there.The military gets tax forms, so we can immediately take the 19% sales tax off the purchase. They took 20 minutes to fill out the form because they had never seen it before. Buy whatever makes you happy but be aware of what counterfeits are really all about!! and yes, many are run on the same production lines in China as the real ones.

Much of the thread is though. All in the name of declaring their game not nice.

Clearly her daughter realizes when she and her mom are being made fun of--even if it was in the name of educating them on their game and why it may not be nice.
