We're looking for a quick dinner one night at MGM in December before seeing the Christmas lights display. Anyone have some suggestions? Its me, DH, DD3, and DD6mo. We're not particular about food type although could do without typical burgers, etc. I've viewed the menus for the CS in MGM, but haven't read too many positive reviews about the CS in MGM....Anyone have a suggestion for a "must do"? Or should we just eat before going to MGM? Thanks a bunch!

We were at MGM on the 13th and I have to say I was less than impressed. We were planning on eating at starring rolls but the line was out the door and not moving because they literally had 1 person working there at the time.

We ate at ABC. While the service was absolutely horrendous and slow, the food was actually pretty good.

My recommendation is that you eat BEFORE you go to MGM. MGM CS is pretty awful.

You may wish to eat before arriving at MGM, however I find the ABC Commissary is far better than the Backlot Express. :)

I think their all pretty bad in MGM. Next time we are doing TS for lunch in MGM. Backlot express was a terrible line - so so service and so so food. Wait was forever probably 45 min at least in June.

I have in the past found the counter service in MGM to be overall severely lacking, but the new Studio Catering Company was a very pleasant surprise. We all had the steak gyro flatbread, and it was really good! Also enjoyed the vanilla panna cotta for dessert. I was so pleased to find some decent CS in MGM - it's about time!

::MickeyMo I wouldn't recommend ANY CS at MGM. I'd either go TS or eat somewhere outside the park. Even McDonald's, LoL. ::MinnieMo

I can't stand any counter service at MGM, either. We usually just eat before or after we go there, or go to 50's Prime Time.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! Looks like we'll be eating before we go to MGM...... ;)

Hi, natlexi, and welcome to the DIS Boards!

I've never had a good CS experience at MGM, so I think your choice to eat before arriving at the park is a wise one. We usually either have table service at MGM or eat elsewhere.

Thanks for the welcome Kaycee! This board has been a wealth of information for our upcoming trip in December. Yeah, we'll definitely eat before we go to MGM, perhaps Kona since we're staying at the Poly, even though we are way over our TS credit limit with the dining plan! :flower:
