counter service meal plan

if you dont want to do any table services or maybe one or two for a week long trip its not a bad deal. Of course noones used it yet...

Personally I think the "upgrade" to the basic plan is well worth it.
We enjoy one sit down meal a day, thats dinner for us and we use the cs for lunch and buy oop for breakfast, which is usually lighter meal and sometimes not (food is too Yummy to pass up)
I will be curious to see who uses the plan and what they think.

As an aside, I think Delexe DIning taes WAY to much time if you use it for all sit downs, unless you are there to eat more and "park experience less" It does well for some, but people should realize that all Ts meals are/average 1 1/2 hours long AND the travel time needed.
Always best to be informed!

The problem I found with the dining plan was last time I used it it had changed and they no longer included tip, and it was very annoying I felt like i was still spending all this money on food. Plus we went to le cellier and the bill was like 170 and I had the dining plan. We are DVC and my husband said next time no DDP its a waste for us because we have 3 small children and where rushing through the meals. and most nights we found ourselves eating at the marketplace in the beach club. So i said to myself maybe the counter service plan will work because next time we go we plan on just doing counter services.

Thanks

if only it didn't inlcude dessert, i don't want dessert after every meal

oh well, it will work for some :)

I've booked the counter service plan. We're doing a 7 day trip, and I don't want to spend a lot of time in sit-downs. I looked at our receipts from our 2007 trip (where we had the basic plan, but wrote down our totals on our receipts before we signed them), and we averaged $45-55 per counter service meal. $15-20 per snack. Using those figures, we'd come out even using the CS plan. However, if we were paying OOP, we proably wouldn't mess with a dessert at every meal, meaning we'd save a little bit paying OOP. (I guess I should add here that we're 4 adults -- my dh and I, my 15 year old son and 13 year old daughter, plus one 9 year old daughter.) However, if I switch to paying OOP, I know I'll be tempted to book a couple of TS meals, which would then add to our food costs.

I know the basic plan is not cost-effective for us, so we'll either stick with the CS plan or go OOP.

We are going to do the CS plan on our March trip. I dont like to spend a lot of time at TS places. Because you have to pay tips on top of the regular plan that adds money to your cost. We are still coming out cheaper by getting the CS plan and paying out for 2 TS (one character meal and one at Trails End). Im looking forward to being on this new plan!

We have used the dining plan our last three trips, 08 trip DS was considered an adult and it was a total PIA to to pay adult rate for him when he ate kids food. So I decided to skip the dining plan, but am now considering the QSP. I have some table service meals planned and had budgeted about $700 for counter service meals and snacks (1 Adult 2 Children 11 & 9 - 10 Nights). Still trying to figure out how much we will spend to see if it is worth it.

What is the per day price?

We're doing the quick service because we are all about the rides & shows, not the food. I don't want to stop Disney-ing for a sit down meal. If you research the menu, you will find great dinner options - sit-down food at counter-service prices. Example - 1/2 rotisserie chicken & mashed potatoes (and dessert!) at Cosmic Ray's.

I agree! We're more about the rides and attractions, too. Even smart planning your quick service meals can result in a lovely, quiet relaxing meal. We use up some serious time by traveling to and from all the restaurants. We are seriously considering the value of this plan for our next trip.

:thumbsup2
