Counter Service Hollywood Studios

Going in about three weeks!

Should I assume that we will eat outdoors if we choose Starring Rolls or Fairfax Fare? Will it be unbearable if we eat early, say 11:00 am???

Thanks! Just trying to keep us as cool :thumbsup2 as possible in the July heat!

Kerri

Both Starring Rolls and Fairfax Faire's seating is outside. Yes, it can be already hot. Starring Roll's seating is tricky, you need to miss the morning breakfast rush, usually packed until 10-10:30.

We ate at Toy Story Pizza Planet and had no complaints about the pizza. The cookies for dessert were nothing great. I don't remember it being loud. For those who don't know, there is additional seating upstairs and outside, so it doesn't have to be crowded. You don't have to give in to your child wanting to play games either. DD sat right by the games and never said a word about playing!

Ya know, of all the times that I have gone to DHS, i don't ever remember eating there once..

i can't imagine NOT eating all day, but for the life of me no idea what i would have consumed there.

We usually plan around eating there- large breakfast beforehand, boat to Epcot or Boardwalk afterward, but we;ve enjoyed Catalina Eddies and Backlot Express also. During Star Wars weekends Backlot Express is a great people watching area!

The majority hate ABC Commissary - I've only eaten there once & had the Fish & Chips which was actually very good. DH did not like the cheeseburger

This describes our last experience exactly - all but one of my fish sticks were excellent (last one went into the trash) but my DH said his burger was the worst he's ever had. It was a funny color gray so we were wondering exactly what kind of animal it came from....

Not impressed with any of the food at the Studios so far. I got sick on the pizza (NOT claiming food poisoning - it just disagreed with me). Sci-Fi gave me an inedible, yet expensive, sandwich (the shake was good though); Mama Melrose- ICK will never go back. Hollywood & Vine - enough said.

Catalina Eddies chicken ceaser salad and hot italian sandwiches are great! We love them! Plus then we just grab burgers or pizza at the place nearby for the kids! Never had bad food there.

I guess we are one of the few families that are ok with the ABC commissary. I usually get the fish and chips - not bad, the kids get chicken nuggets (have the allergy free ones for our one son), and my wife actually likes the chicken curry.

We've always had good food at the Commissary too. My only issue (and my dad shared it) in February was that there isn't a SINGLE burger option. It's a DOUBLE, which is a LOT of meat.

"They" say there aren't any good counter services places to eat at HS.

But, if you were there for the day, and you had to eat something (not table service), where would you eat? What is the least objectionable?:confused3

"'They' talk a lot, don't they?"
"Yes, 'they' do." Sorry--couldn't resist a Pulp Fiction quote :rotfl:

We've only eaten at ABC there. We're part of the few who enjoyed it. Sat in the back where we could see the sorcerors's hat. Place was very quiet; a nice little haven. Kind of reminded me of upstairs at CHH, where you can actually enjoy a nice, quiet meal :)

Had the curry. Don't recall if it was GREAT, but it certainly wasn't GROSS. Fam did fine with their meals.

Turkey sandwich at Starring rolls is pretty good and large. And you can get one of the massive cupcakes for dessert. It was actually one of my favorite counter service meals in all of Disney.

We really enjoyed Min and Bill's Dockside Diner. They have hot dogs in pretzel roll with mustard and Italian Sausage with grilled peppers and onions in a bread roll. AND if you're on any of the dining plans, you can get a shake as your drink and the chocolate shake was thick and creamy and soooooo good.

Studios is not the park I think of when I think food, but it is not that bad. I liked the chicken curry at ABC but I was the only one in my group of six that enjoyed my meal. We always seen to end up at backlot I don't love it but when the kids need to eat we have to stop and eat. If I remeber There is pulled pork on the menu. I have not even been into Pizza Planet for years. My general rule is skip the pizza in Disney.
