Any top pick/suggestions for counter service dinner during MHP? Best time to eat? We're having brunch at Goofy's Kitchen at 11:20am so I think we will be okay with an earlier dinner. Also any top picks for dessert treats that will be open during the party for a late night snack?

Thanks!

Just in case some folks don't know what is available or open during MHP (before giving an answer), the list of what was open last year can be found at Question #20 (from the MHP FAQ post in the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread), here - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...een-night-mhp-sold-out.3270919/#post-51326916.

Also from the Superthread, a Halloween food-related post (that, at the top, includes a link to a fairly extensive list of sweet & savory foods to be found during the season) - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...een-night-mhp-sold-out.3270919/#post-51326928.

Thanks Sherry! If anyone has any favorites from the list or if any stand out as stinky and we should stay away please let me know!

With the limited time you'll have in the park (8 hours total, with the MHP ticket), I wouldn't waste time eating dinner during the party. If anything, I would eat in the three hours before the party starts. The 5 hours of the MHP will be your only chance to meet special characters, see Halloween Screams and Paint the Night, ride some rides with shorter lines, etc.

I don't know what time Goofy's Kitchen closes that day -- sometimes it closes at noon, sometimes at 1 p.m., and sometimes at 2 p.m. If it closes at noon, I would try to get a breakfast time that's a little bit earlier than 11:20, just so you don't catch the characters as they are winding down and heading out.

If eating dinner during MHP is a must, Plaza Inn is good -- for both a meal and dessert.

Unfortunately there's no way my 3yo son or 65yo father will be able to make it from 4p-12am without a dinner break. It just won't be a pleasant evening without it but I figure if we eat an earlier CS dinner and have a treat on the go later in the evening everyone will be happy. I will check out the Plaza Inn, thanks!

My son will also be scared of the villains so we don't really plan on making stops to meet them. Maybe one or two Halloween characters if we see a reasonable line. We're mostly going for rides, the parade and fireworks. I booked the character breakfast because he does like the fab 5 and their friends and that will most likely make him happy enough for the day.

Oh, I love Goofy's Kitchen, so I have no issue with that. I just want to be sure that you have plenty of time to see the characters! I don't know if that is a day that they close at noon, but sometimes the characters start to trickle out in the last 20-30 minutes before closing. If that's a day when it closes at 1 p.m., then you should be okay.

I was able to move up the breakfast from 11:20am to 10:45am so hopefully we will be okay with the characters. I don't want to make it too early because it will be a long day for us.

I'm pretty sure they do close at 12pm because I can't get anything past 11:20am and they are pretty wide open before that. Think that will be okay? I can move it to 10:30am also. Thank you!

When we went to a MHP last year we had dinner at Plaza Inn, I think at around 5pm. No waiting for service or a table, I think all up we were done in about 30 mins max. I didn't do any overly jerky rides afterwards for a while though.

Mmmmm fried chicken

Well this sounds promising, I will hope for the best. :)

Eat early. We waited too long last year. We were so caught up with all the fun we were having that we lost track of time. Everything in adventure land, frontier land, New Orleans Square and critter country was closed by the time we got around to feeding the kids.
Jolly Holiday was open. It worked out great because we caught the Frozen pre parade while we ate.
This year we will be more diligent about feeding the kids.

I think 10:45 will work! I'm glad I mentioned it. I had been thinking about how it can be hard to keep track of Goofy's Kitchen's hours, as sometimes it closes at noon, sometimes at 1 p.m. and sometimes at 2 p.m. It seems to depend on the time of the year and the day of the week (peak season weekend days, for example, might have the 2 p.m. closures, whereas a weekday in an off season -- which would include October, even though it's busy -- might have a noon closure). I had a feeling that eating at 11:20 on a noon closure day might mean that the characters begin trickling out. I think you'll be good with the 10:45 time.

Thank you, yes, we would have been so disappointed to book the character meal and then have no characters!!!
