First time using the dining plan. My question is- when ordering counter service, are most items that are considered a "snack credit" also considered a dessert?

Staying at AoA, so examples in hotel food courts would be awesome...

Thank you!!

At a food court, it's usually anything from the bakery. Things like cake, pie, brownies, etc... That's why I love Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, because you have a large variety of dessert choices.

I stayed at aoa in November, they had a bunch of per packaged dessert options or you could get the gelato. If you get gelato they will stamp your receipt and when your done eating go to the gelato counter to get it. Tons of flavors and they will let you sample them too before you decide on a flavor.

It depends, I think. I have heard that some places will substitute any snack for a dessert, but I never tried it. I did, however, substitute fresh fruit for a dessert a few times and had no issues with that.

We had issues with substitutions when we were there. We stayed at POFQ and they would not let us have a banana as a dessert. We had to get a bakery item. I was shocked because I had heard how easy it was to substitute things depending on the CM but that was not what we experienced anywhere. They were pretty strict with us on what we could or could not get.

Also the kids QS meals did not really get a dessert. Some locations offered a cookie as one of the sides. I thought they also got dessert with their meal. This was an issue for us. The QS desserts were not that great but I'm not sure how a parent sits down to eat chocolate cake while the child gets nothing.

Usually they will gladly let you exchange for a piece of fruit. Last year we stayed at Pop and walked over to AoA to eat one day. I did not think they had near as many dessert choices as Pop. I guess mainly because they do not have the same ice cream station. The gelatto was good but not as good as the sundaes in my opinion.
