so i got accepted to the cp for the spring sessiongoodvibes). but i got accepted to a field where i didnt ask and when i was on the phone for the interview i said i'd prefer not to do quick service. has anyone ever done quick service and how did they feel about it? also has anyone ever gotten accepted for something they requested not to have? i wanna do the cp but idk if i should decline this time and try again in the fall and test my luck for a different role

i've never worked it, but i've read alot of positive things from people who have worked in that area. check out the facebook group page for spring 2011 theres more people on there who have worked in qsfb hope that helped

I was accepted for QSFB too. I didnt check it off as an option on my role checklist and Im pretty sure it wasn't even a topic on conversation during my phone interview. So as excited as I was that I was accepted, I was a lil disappointed that I got a role I didn't want. I have a lot of restaurant experience (not fast food) so I think thats why I was placed there.
In the few weeks since my acceptance, I have talked to a lot of people thru this site and Facebook about QSFB and read some blogs as well, and since I have done this, I feel a lot better about it. Yeah, you work hard and are essentially working fast food, but it sounds like as long as you have a positive attitude, you meet soo many people and you make a ton of friends. So Im not sad anymore, Im excited. I hope this helps and I hope you decide to do it..its the chance of a lifetime and I wouldnt want you to regret it if you opt out. You can always apply for another one after this term and try for something else

I haven't been in the CP yet, but if it were me, I would rather not work and live with the same person, having that much time around the same person would get to me a little. At the same time WDW is a HUGE place, so the odds of you working at the same place and times should be near zero, so I say room with him.

There are dozens of QSFB locations. The probability of getting the same work location is slim to none. You could work the same hours or (likely) very mixed hours... sometimes you'll open at 6am (resorts) or other days close at 3am (parks), you never know, and as a CP they don't guarantee consistency. On top of that, you probably won't have the same days off. Honestly, I was rarely in my apartment. You're so busy with work, errands, and social life that you're only home to sleep. If you want to live with a friend, just make sure you are compatible- sleeping schedule, guest regulations, respecting possessions, etc. I was an RA in college and saw many friendships broken after living together because they were just too different and got to know each other too well to be friends.

My daughter and her best friend both are rooming together now and both are also QSFB. They were assigned different locations - her friend is at typhoon lagoon and she is at beach club (currently deployed at PO and next week deployed at CBR). They work completely different hours and really don't spend much time in the apartment. They have only had a couple of days off together but that is pretty rare. They share the same room and it has worked out really great. Another of the girls in the apartment is also QSFB over at Epcot.

Chances are you will both be assigned different locations.

I was a QSFB cast member during the Fall Advantage 2009 College Program. I have to say, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I wasn't to happy when I was accepted, but once I got there I had the time of my life. I worked at Columbia Harbour House at the Magic Kingdom.

Its true, sometimes the hours arent great. I was deployed on my CP to Stands West and was getting home one morning when my roommate was leaving (6am).

I had my interview today at 7:30 pm. She was really nice, and that definitely help me to calm down because i was very nervous, by the end of the interview I was shaking. This was the first time I had a phone interview and I think it went well......I REALLY HOPE I GET IT, IM SUPER EXCITED....AND ANXIOUS.......

By the way thank you very much for the tips, they were very helpful, I had the question about the challenges of living with different people?

NOW I JUST HAVE TO WAIT 3-4 WEEKS, OMG

Stands West is Pretzles, Turkey Legs, and things like that on the west side of the park (Lib Square, Frontierland, and Adventureland).

The college program was one of the best things that I have done. I moved in around the end of May and actually had found five other people to room with prior to arriving to Vista Way to check in. (If you do not have a roommate already, they have a roommate selector program or you will be placed once you arrive to Vista.) I lived in Patterson Court which is the newest complex as of 2008. The apartments are nice and I loved my roommates. The first thing you do is go to Traditions and then from there you have a bunch of classes that you take for Food and Beverage purposes. The first couple day of training are pretty interesting.. you get to see how restaurants work. I again worked at Columbia Harbour House in the Magic Kingdom. The people I worked with were incredible and I would never change the experiences I had.

Now why I was on the program (May 2009-EXT May 2010). I was also deployed to Outdoor Foods for Three Weeks and Stands West for Two. deployment is a great experience, it lets you see how the rest of your role works.

I was also able to do all of the parties, Halloween and Christmas. As a Food and Beverage cast member you get do most of the Christmas parties which are hot chocolate and cookies.

But alas my program ended.. but I still work for the Disney company. I worked at Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise at the moment.

I don't apply for several months, but if I get accepted, getting QSFB is one of my biggest worries. I really want to work entertainment or attractions and have no desire to work QSFB. How should I approach things if I get offered that role?

you would only get offered that if you marked it on your checklist or you said that you were OK with it during the phone interview (and saying "if that's all that is available, then i'd do it" is saying you are OK with it).

Don't mark anything you don't want to do. Don't say you would do anything you don't want to do. Be very clear, but professional, about it.

I didnt check off QSFB or even FSFB for my checklist. During my interview, food service was never mentioned. We talked about attractions and the hopper role and how it could include custodial. I got accepted for QSFB, and you cant change your role once its offered. At first I was upset (see previous post) and I honestly had NO idea why I was placed there. Until I realized that I have a lot of restaurant experience so that why they gave me that role. So maybe if you do not want that role, during your phone interview, you could say "As much as I want this opportunity, I would like to be placed in a role other than QSFB because..(insert reason..such as learning a new area of work, etc)?..In retrospect, I would have done that..its worth a shot
