Is it just me or have the hamburgers at the CS restaurants changed??? We were there in May and they were still offering the double cheese burgers at the CS locations and now they are not. They have changed it to a 1/3 lb burger on a wheat bun and to be honest it is NASTY. We were there this past weekend and ate at Backlot Express; we were surprised that the double burger was no longer offered. No big deal right?? Well, it wouldn't have been if the burger had been worth eating. The bun is DRY and falls apart when you put ketchup and mustard on it, and the meat :scared1::eek:. The meat on my burger was burnt on the outside and cold in the middle; it had no flavor at all. When I got a mouth full of cold meat it took all I could do not to spit it out immediately, and the rest of the burger went in the garbage. The quality has gone down and the price has gone up, yes up by $0.20. Now that may not sound like much, but remember the burger is now a single patty, so price UP, and quality, along with quantity, DOWN. OH, and not to mention-------the burger made my husband SICK :sick::sick:. Needless to say we did not eat any more of our meals at Disney restaurants as there are just TOO many off site restaurants to choose from.

The bun change appears to be standard at all Disney-operated counter service restaurants. They will all be the wheat blend buns, unless you ask for a gluten-free tapioca bun.

The buns changed awhiel ago and I agree the new buns are lousy and not any "heathier."

I woudl bet the recent moves to one big burger instead of double burgers is to eliminate the requests for "extra buns" to create two singles.

Now if you want to split a burger, you cut it in half instead of involving the CMs in ordering spare buns. Less time for staff and Disney can better plan and order quantities to match true needs.

Are all CS doing the one big burger instead of the double burgers? I really liked the double and my kids liked that you could just get a single smaller burger that they had some hope of actually finishing. Bummer

Would you say one is better then the other or are they both really bad?

I would've taken that right back up to the counter & requested they cook me another burger. Serving under-cooked meat could get them in big trouble if someone were to become seriously ill from eating it. I'm sure those burgers are all grilled together "assembly line" style, so if yours was undercooked chances are all the others that were cooked at the same time were as well. The cook in charge needs to be alerted that there's a problem with the "burger station" (whether it was human or machine error that caused the problem).

Sorry you had a bad experience & hope your husband recovered quickly!

I don't think it was undercooked. I think it was well done and poorly reheated. Seems to be the standard at Disney for the last year or so. The buns are horrible. Even the TS restaurants have switched.

I know I was in Pecos Bill yesterday and they were not selling any double burgers. They had regular burgers, and a larger Angus burger. I can't tell you how either bun is as I've never eaten either one. I had a chicken wrap.

I do enjoy a great burger, but let's face it--we can get burgers at home. I've given up on burgers at WDW in favor of other things.:confused3

I have always limited myself to 1 burger on a Disney vacation. Too many other things I love. Guess I'll just Jones til I get home. Or at least to the airport.

I had a bacon double cheeseburger at Cosmic Ray's on August 25 and at the American Adventure pavillion on August 26. They were the same ol' bacon double cheeseburger that I have always had at WDW.

I told my husband that the reason they changed was to keep down the "extra bun" orders. I have never ordered the extra bun as I don't order hamburgers very often, but I hate that the quality has gone down too :sad1:.

We were on the DDP in May and I don't remember the buns being the wheat buns then, could have been though.

I checked at several different CS locations, and they had all changed to the 1/3 lb Angus burger. The bun was not good at all. Maybe ours were just stale :confused3. My DS had the hot dog and he said it was very good.

I wanted to take the burger back, but my DH said to just let it go. They were very busy and we had waited at least 10 minutes for our food to begin with. Maybe the burger was undercooked since we were there at opening and they seemed to be very unorganized. Not sure if DH's was undercooked or not, but he said the outside of the meat was not burnt like mine was. I told him I think they were trying to cook them too fast and the heat was too high which burned the outside of the meat without letting the middle get done.

DH is better today. He spend Saturday night in the room though :rolleyes1.

The center of my meat was very pink. That is why I discarded it, I'm not much into raw meat . I know Disney changes things to make them more cost effective, but they lost my burger business....lol. I'm one of those that once I get food that doesn't sit well with me, I just can't bring myself to eat it again.

I almost got the grilled veggie sandwich, but at the last minute I changed my mind. Wish I hadn't :guilty:.

I will be doing the same. Next time maybe a hot dog????

Same here. I'm not that crazy about hamburgers, but Disney did have decent burgers and at the CS it was an option, but not for me anymore.

Thanks for that info :yay::banana:. DH will be happy to hear that they haven't changed. We did not check those two places since everywhere else I checked had changed....Electric Umbrella, All Star food courts and of course Backlot Express. Small sampling I know, but I just gave up after all of these were the same.

I do have to add that the pizza was still the same.......:rotfl:.
