Hi,

I plan to give Animal Kingdom a full day visit during our trip this July since it is relaxing and I know that my mother in law will love it. Anyway, my question is regarding counter service places at Animal Kingdom. Currently I am thinking of Flame Tree BBQ, however I have heard that it isn't very good. Has anybody gone to this restaurant, and if so what did you think? Would you eat there again? If you didn't like it, or haven't been there and can give some other AK counter service pointers, what do you recommend?

Thanks,
Simon :)

PS: I wouldn't mind taking a break in the middle of the day and going to Boma's and exploring AKL.

I went to this rest. in December and enjoyed it very much. I had the pulled pork sand. with baked beans and corn. It was very good and my DH and I are planning on going back in May

The Flame Tree BBQ isn't for everyone. We happen to love the seating area which is extremely relaxing. It's Disney BBQ simple as that. It's not going to be Carolina BBQ. I'd suggest you try it yourself and what's the harm if you don't like the food? The only person who can tell you if you will like it is yourself but only after you've eaten the food. Sometimes you have to ignore the reviews and experience for yourself.

We like the Flame Tree and also the Pizzafari. Last time I had the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was awesome!

Tusker House is very good. We just like the salmon a lot.

We've eaten there once and it was okay...we chose that rest. because it had a decent kids menu (not just peanutbutter & jelly) like the pizza place. It had a very nice outdoor eating area with a beautiful view. It wasn't my fav. but I would eat there again.

My family and I have been to Flame Tree and Pizzafari which are very good counter service locations.

We have also been to the Tusker House, however we refuse to go back there. The food and service was horrible and the worst I have ever seen in WDW, which made it very disappointing. :sad2:

I've been to Flame Tree, Tusker House, and Pizzafari. You really can't go wrong with any of them. It all depends on what kind of food you want. Personally, I think Tusker House is the best. When we were there last September, I had the best CS meal ever. That said, Flame Tree comes in a close second.

I am sending my DB, DSIL, DNiece 3, and my parents there in Spetember. My DH and I are passing ;)

I fully expect my parents to enjoy watching their DGD interact. For us with no kids, {{shudder}}, we are passing :)

It sounds like a fantastic meal for the kids and interaction sounds great. I will make sure to post a review when we get back in the fall

Flame Tree is a must on all of our visits. We love the barbeque - we will alternate between ribs and chicken. It is a nice place and we love the different seating areas and pick different places to hnag out on our trips.

Have fun planning!

We haven't gone to Flame Tree yet, but we plan to this coming trip. But... you can't go wrong with Tusker House. the food is yummy and you get a LOT of food for a meal. So much that me and DH split one. DD got a kid's meal, DS got a wrap, and the human vaccuum couldn't finish it all (boggles), and we split the half chicken. I've heard good things about Flame Tree too though.

I love Flame Tree BBQ. It is my favorite CS place to eat in any of the parks. I don't know what Carolina BBQ is but it is good enough for someone that eats Oklahoma/Texas BBQ at least once a week.

By the way, AK will be VERY HOT in July. Make sure you drink lots of water & try to get out of the sun for some shows or something to cool off every once in a while. I love AK but we seldom can stand to be there much past 1:00 in the summer time.

Have fun!

Hi,

Thanks for all the posts everyone! I think I'm going to Flame Tree BBQ or Tusker House... I'll decide when I get there. :)

Flametree is one of our CS favorites. We visit AK almost as much as MK and Flametree is a must do for us. I was looking forward to trying Tusker House this trip for the salmon but sadly they'll be closed during our trip.:sad2:

Hi,

I guess I'm going to Flame Tree BBQ because I just learned that Tusker House is going to be closed when I am there.

~Simon :)
