I'm officially a Mrs. The wedding on Saturday was everything I ever dreamed of (except not at Disney). I wasn't nervous one bit until my dad and I were standing there and I saw my attendants lined up to take their turn walking down the aisle. Then it was like something snapped and I was overwhelmed with emotion. I seriously felt like I was going to pass out, but luckily didn't. It was just so amazing to realize that the day and time was finally here and that this was for me. I doubt that any of you know this, but I'm an "older" first time bride at 43. Things just never worked out for me in the past (can you say jerks?), so by this age I had all but given up hope of finding my prince charming. Now I just say that the reason nothing worked out in the past was because Brian was waiting for me to meet him.
I don't have pics yet, but will post when I do. We did incorporate a bit of Disney into the reception - Mickey & Minnie cake topper and Mickey & Minnie bride and groom bobble heads on the bridal table. It was great. The most emotional part of the reception was after the bride and groom dance we had the bridal party dance. Brian has 2 children from his first marriage - a daughter who is 10 and a son that is 13. They were both in the wedding. During the bridal party dance his son and daughter were dancing together and we pulled them in with us and the 4 of us danced together. His son didn't stay with us long, but his daughter did and was crying so much and kept squeezing us so hard because she was so happy. The 3 of us were on the dance floor after the song ended and we were all bawling!! A bit later in the reception people were coming up to us saying that was the most touching scene in the world and they were crying too!
It's hard to believe though that after all that planning, all the money (!!!!), all the worrying - that it's all over. But now the new chapter of our lives together as Mr. & Mrs. starts!!!
Congrats to all recent brides and good luck to those that have upcoming weddings.
