Countdown to August 2011 (tr link posted)

What a great new bag!
Garden Grill was a big hit with my kids last year and has become a must-do. We like Teppan Edo. My DH is a huge fan of Biergarten (which is funny to me since he doesn't eat pork!).
I love Kona Cafe which would be an easy monorail from BLT. If you're willing to splurge both California Grill and Narcoosee's are lovely (and I've taken my kids both places and they enjoyed it, too).

Amanda

Thanks- I'll let you know how great they are once they arrive! My girls enjoyed Teppan Edo- but I think we will have to take them to Hibachi down the street sometime this summer instead... I am thinking about Kona! Since I am using dining credits this trip, I will wait and go to the Sig restaurants when we aren't.

Love the Tshirt!! How cool to be able to play the Disney music without anyone being aware.

Have you tried the Wave at the Contemporary? We ate there 2 years ago and loved it. I also really liked Kona Cafe for lunch at the Poly - we were able to do a walk up last summer.

Thanks! :cutie: I will have to look at the Wave's menu again...nothing jumped out at me, but I hear their new breakfast is cool.

Cool bag and t-shirt!!! :thumbsup2

Okay, the teacher in me wants to know what your break-out session was about...do tell! :goodvibes
Thanks! :goodvibes

I did a session on fishbowls. If you aren't familiar, I can email my powerpoint to you. :thumbsup2 I use Socratic Circles with my AP classes, but fishbowls with my other classes (because their discussions don't stem from their questions/ thinking...)

Congrats on the girls making the travel soccer team!
Will you still keep them in gymnastics now that they will have a more active soccer schedule?

I like your ON mickey shirt, it is very cute. I love ON!

Thanks! Nope, gymnastics are out (and I am happy about it - the injury possibilities scare me, and my daughters aren't really built for the sport...(they are nearing 5 foot already). They have about 4 more sessions, but I am going to have to see if I can move the night since it conflicts with soccer practice.

I figured since Mickey is on ON I can get away with wearing it without people shaking their heads.

Those are some great ADR choices! :thumbsup2

It depends where and what meal you are looking for...I could give you LOTS of suggestions!

Hey Deb! SO glad to finally have a chance to log on. I have my next test this Saturday and am confident enough to take the night off and do some Disney!

I think doing a split stay is a great idea - so you can do both. Try the BLT and also stay somewhere that we all know you like! Thanks for the AK education... so if we stayed there, we would be in Jambo. I'm going to make time to venture out over there this year. We'll be there 5 full days this year, instead of 3, so we'll have more playing around time.

I am glad to hear the girls are still doing well at soccer! I was a gymnast, though, so I was also a little sad that they won't be doing that anymore. Maybe I'm built more for it, though, like you said. I'm still only 5-3. ;)

So, did your break-out session go well????

And yes... I'll be going to ON this weekend to find that shirt... :woohoo:

Hmm table service… How about 50's Prime Time Cafe? The food wasn't the best I've ever had at Disney, but the atmosphere is a blast!

Or what about Le Cellier? Or 'Ohana for breakfast?

I'm getting hungry now lol

I'm just finding your pre-TR.

tour book looks amazinng!

I got the Disney connection on Pollenator, I started singing too.

Congrats to your daughters for making the team.

Exciting about staying at Jambo and BLT

I confess. I did, too. :upsidedow

We like Kona and Crystal Palace for dinner. Cape May was a big hit for breakfast. I don't think you can go wrong. Hit up an old favorite or try something new and form your own opinion. Wherever you go, you'll be eating in Disney World, so it's all good. :thumbsup2

Hooray for sneaking that OKW music in. ;)

I am familiar with fish bowls and Socratic discussions -- I don't do it as often as I should since my middle school students tend to wander away from actually discussing the text. LOL!

Thanks; I dread Adr's...I love the old ones but want to try new ones.

I hope the test went well! Yay for five days! You will certainly enjoy the extra days!

I can't say I am sad about the gymnastics; the injury potential scares me! I measured the girls the other day, Hannah will overtake you in no time at 4'10-1/2 (size 8 old navy flip flops this year...) Emma is 4'9-1/2 (size 7). I'm 5'8 and dh is 6'1; so we are glad they have height in their genes...

Break out session went well- all of the evaluations from teachers were positive. One teacher even told me Friday that she tried it and had a blast.

We have to put Prime Time on the list, but my girls might need another year to prepare. :lmao:

With Le Cellier dinner 2 TS credits - I think we'll wait to go back until we aren't on the dining plan. I did love their soup!

O'hana for breakfast is floating in my head.

Thanks for the ideas! Isn't it awful how much we miss the food at Disney?!

I'm just finding your pre-TR.

Welcome! Thanks for commenting. Thank you for the congrats. :yay: We are excited.

I may be changing that reservation yet again. hehe

I confess. I did, too. :upsidedow

I am thinking Kona would be a good choice too. We haven't eaten at CP for dinner...it seems to be more of a brunch place in my head...Is it in your top five (minus the characters and the fun it is to watch the girls interact with them.)

I am familiar with fish bowls and Socratic discussions -- I don't do it as often as I should since my middle school students tend to wander away from actually discussing the text. LOL!

God Bless you for those middle schoolers - UGH! Be sure to energize again over this summer to begin again with those non-humans! :rotfl2:

So while I was making more ADR's, my girls broke out their pins and started trading with each other. ;)

We are at the 70 day mark!:cool1: I need to change my ticker below...one of these days.

Okay, so Adr's for the trip ;(I'll list all since I don't know where I was in this process a week ago.) these are dinner unless otherwise noted...

Tutto Italia
Les Chefs de France
Tusker House brunch
The Wave
1900 Park Fare brunch
Sci-Fi late lunch (arrival day)

I wanted to book 'Ohana - but the only time was 9:30pm...too late;
the Kona reservation wouldn't add to my cart!
We also wanted to eat at Garden Grill again.

So, I am thinking of changing The Wave for Garden Grill. What do you think?

Also, I will be annoying member services by calling each day to try to get BWV or BCV for the first part of our stay. Our dinners are at Epcot and it would just be easier.

It will be easy to bother Member Services soon enough (maybe twice a day.) I have nine more days with students!!:dance3::cheer2: Then, I have three teacher days.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Our weather was unbelieveable...85-90 degrees, perfect pool weather so the girls and I practiced our summer routine. Today, however, I didn't make it to the pool. I didn't use enough sunscreen yesterday, so I had a pink back. It was too hot to sit at the pool and not be able to get in it. (Please know it has to be HOT for me to get in the pool...I am a fuddyduddy-I have never written that word- is it right???)

The girls went with our friends and dh went back with them for a couple of hours.

My back got good and fried this weekend so we skipped the pool today too. We also had gorgeous weekend weather.
I've never eaten at The Wave so it's hard to give an opinion. My kids LOVED and I mean loved Garden Grill. The food was fine. Nothing to get super excited about. Although I like the family style dining and there was plenty of fresh salad. The character interaction was great. We still do a fair number of character meals but this was the best so far. It was the last night of a week-long trip. I don't know if the characters were particularly good or my kids just really got into it but it was fun. Chip and Dale and Pluto spent tons of time with us. And the way the tables are set up meant we didn't really see most of the other diners. So it felt like they were there for us! Mickey was fine. More typical of other meals - he signed autographs and took pics and then went on his way. The other 3 were fun and silly and spent all the tine in the world.

Amanda

I love your ADR choices Debby! I sure hope you get what you want...I would call twice a day too...isn't that what member services is there for:lmao:

Glad you had some great weather....I had to turn the heat on in the house today...it was raining, windy and the house was so cold when we walked in from work....ridiculous!!!!

Yay on the girls pin trading with each other! It looks like fun!

:woohoo: on being at the 70 day mark!

Great ADRs – we are unable to get O’hana as well.

Yay on having hot weather. Also that is how you spell fuddy-duddy lol!

I say don't worry about calling every day or twice a day.
You are helping them by giving them job security! :goodvibes

Aww yayy for pin trading!

They must be so excited!!!

They are. As we approached our Magical Express bus in Jan. , Hannah said,"Mommy, did you remember our pins..." Knew I forgot something...

The HEAT??? :scared1: Hope it warms up for you! It has cooled nicely for us. It was a glorious 80 today!

Yay on the girls pin trading with each other! It looks like fun!

Thanks!! I keep trying for Ohana - but I booked Garden Grill as a back up for now...

The CM have been wonderful when I call (everyday during my lunch at 10:30...) I will have to continue that once school lets out. I will also add maybe a 3:30 call :rolleyes1

We had the same experience with Mickey there. My dh picked up on it... My family loves the food there too. No clue on why my girls do. It is what they would complain about at home...

How many of you have explored this little gem in the park??

We haven’t because I knew my girls wouldn’t be interested without a back-story. So in true Disney preparation style, tonight’s movie night was Swiss Family Robinson.

The girls have been at sleepovers and Fridays have not consisted of much time for movie nights…so when one asked about a sleepover for the weekend, I declared Friday, family night!

Of course, something special had to happen, and I knew we had ice cream and toppings.

Movie night was a success (with the exception of the pixilating film…dh tried cleaning the DVD player, but we think it must be the library rental DVD. I considered asking for a refund upon return, but am I really concerned about the $1.59? Couldn’t beat it! I fast forwarded through some rough spots, and we managed.

I do have to say though- I would like to feed Francis to his tiger!:rolleyes1

Yay on having a movie night!! :thumbsup2 I will have to get round to watching Swiss Family Robinson.

That's a shame that the film had rough spots. Do the library replace copies if they find out?

I've never seen Swiss Family Robinson and we've never done the attraction. Looks like a fun movie night!

Amanda

I haven't seen that movie since I was a little girl! I also have to admit that we've never gone up and seen the treehouse...Jasmine was never interested so we never bothered. I think this year might be the year!

I laughed at your Francis comment and 100% agree!

God Bless you for those middle schoolers - UGH! Be sure to energize again over this summer to begin again with those non-humans! :rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Love your movie night! We need to watch Swiss Family Robinson -- neither child has ever seen it! I think Connor would really like it, and I am sure Chelsea would tolerate it. ;)
