Countdown in Signature

I've noticed that a lot of people have a countdown to their Disney vacations in their signatures. I can't seem to figure out how to do this...can someone please explain it to me?

Ok another stupid question...how do you put a picture in your profile?? And also, can you use a custom avatar? If so, how? Sorry for all the questions...I've been in the creative mood lately! lol
