Countdown Clock?

How do you get the countdown clock? Keep in mind that I am computer challenged I need extremely detailed instructions

The countdowns are broken. I've been trying to put one for a couple of weeks and you get errors about been logged in and that your signature is bigger than 500 characters. There are pages and pages of people having the exact same error messages.

I hope someone is looking into this as no moderator has put any comment there.

Thanx eelvira. It told me I wasn't registered. I was totally confused. So it hasn't been working for weeks now? Hope something gets done about that!!
