We put the chain together one year and wrapped it as a way to tell the kids. They quickly figured it out since the chain is filled with Disney characters and "days till Disney" on each link.

My kids kept wanting to keep the links, so they usually laid around more than I would have liked, but hey... it's the magic of Disney and it would help get them more excited about Disney!

For anyone with multiple kids, we would often put a letter on the back side of each link to help remind who's turn it was. Saved on the arguing sometimes on who's turn it was!

Go to the search featur and type "countdown timer" and hit enter. You'll get tons of threads that show examples, how to's, links etc.

this should help get you on the right track.
