I am sorry if this has been posted a trilion times, i was hoping someone can share some creative ideas on how to make a countdown calendar...
my kids will be going to summer school soon so i will have some time to sit and attempt to make one.
we still have 170 days till our trip, so i know its going to be a huge calendar but i was going to do it slowly, 1 month at a time....kwim?
any ideas or pictures would be greatly appreicated!;)
thank you!!!!!!!!!:worship:

We took a dry erase board that hangs on the fridge as our starting point. Then we cut blue posterboard out in the shape of the castle, and put the moat door over the dry erase board part so we could still write on the board. We used markers to add details to the castle (like the clock at almost midnight). Up until two-digits, we just change the number once a week (and we keep the day we changed it on the bottom corner in case we are out of town or miss the change day. Then we change every day.

The nice part about the dry erase board is that it lets us have multiple trip countdowns going.

The bad part about the dry erase board is that the 510 it's showing for next year's cruise is a really big number...

Sorry I don't have any pictures - I tried to take some before, but the glare on the dry erase board is bad so you really can't see it well.

We Use The Mickey Paint Chips From Home Depot - I Just Write The Number On The Mickey And We Change It Everyday
Something Small And Portable.
We Have Also Done Contdown Chains - Used Disney Characters And Numbers And Then Cut One Chain Off Every Day.
Just Some Ideas

I just finished making something for our trip in January... I created a coloring countdown calendar so our kids could cross days off and color characters too. Here's a pic of June:

Here's what December looks like:

I used characters to mark birthdays and such as well, then in Photoshop I typed in the countdown date and made it opaque to 40% (so it didn't stand out like the date does).

Here's a link to my 4shared files with a blank template and June-January (minus the birthday characters and our own countdown). Feel free to use it if you wish!
