Two weeks time we are off to the greatest place on earth. I 'found' this incredible forum in April and have been hooked ever since. Have asked a couple of questions and answered some posts. I just wanted to say 'hi'. You have all been brilliant, it has been great being part of this forum, reading the AMAZING trip reports (especially Kevin Stringers, although daveyoghurt is pretty good!!). SO..... Here goes...

Prue, 39, 5ft2 and 3/4, control freak, and got a U in maths o'level, yep I am that old and that useless!
John, 46, has a full head of hair, calm, kind, before he went to WDW asked if it was like Brighton Pier...?!!
DD, 12, got the best of both of us, so completely angelic, and unlike me amazing at maths!!

That is our little and happy family. We are so excited and I cant sleep ( am ridiculously nervous about flight, please give any advice on this, OBI where are you????). We went in '89 for honeymoon, '94 stayed in Dixie Landings, 7 times to DLP and now finally we are going to WDW. It has been such a dream and I am excited, nervous and have wished away the year and now its that pretrip excitment!!

Thank you all for the questions and comments, You have been :goodvibes the best!

Hi There.
I know this forum is amazing isn't it. We are off 3 weeks today and getting to the SDD is taking forever. I am disliking flying more as I get older (37) a few weeks ago. I have bought some stugeron and tried them a few times already. THey don;t knock you out as they are for sickness but do relax you for sure. MAy be worth a try. I get into the films as soon as they start. Who are you flying with. You can sort out which ones to watch. |We go with Virgin a nd I am watching "Bewitched, Batman Begins and kicking and screaming" Tat should take care of all the flight as you will have to take time out to eat as well.
Have a wonderful time. Where are you staying?? :teeth:  :teeth:

Hey Prue,

Why dont you give this site a try, its free and it is quite informative. Learning how a plane works is a big step to relaxing on a flight.

I love aviation but cant quite relax on flights yet. Try herbal calming relief too, boots I think have a number of different natural products. They just take the edge off your fear but doesnt incapacitate you (Something I believe should never happen when you are flying)

Anything you need to know PM me I am always willing to help out as is Obi I am sure....Relax we are going to the Worlds Playground! :goodvibes

To back up Cochise, my friend who is terrified of flying recently undertook a flight to Oz and used quiet life tablets from Boots and she claims they kept her calm and allowed her to sleep for about 8-10 hours so may well be worth using

Hi Prue
First of all have a brilliant time in WDW i know we did.
As for the flying i know how you must be feeling. We spent the night before we flew at the Hilton Gatwick and they have made me little more worried. I honestly felt fine sat on the plane on the runway, as we we were delayed for about 30 min as there was some repairs that needed doing to the plane.
Not a bad thought had gone through my head i was feeling a bit nervouse but was keeping it together. So we started to up the runway then the nose started to rise and that was it I was blubbering like a baby then husband started to make a fuss as he really didn't realise that i was that frightened which made me worse. Every one was looking i felt so embaressed .
To make it worse it happened again on the way back aswell, it seems that once ime up in the air ime fine, if there is no turbulance. Its just the taking off that i cant cope with.
If any one has any advice for our April trip it would be gladly recieved.
Have a great time prue

Thanks marv

:sunny: Hi

Just remember fear produces adrenalin and adrenalin is better than any drug known to man (or woman!!). Sit back and remember you are on your way to magic you will feel soooooo good!!! when you get there

Enjoy :goodvibes

Adrenaline is very powerful, it produces the "Fight or Flight" in us, the thing with a plane journey is you are in there and there is not "flight" or escape as if to say.

Best attempting to work at this before you go rather than pass it off.

Does anyone know if children can take quiet life tablets. My 11 yr old DD is very unsettled in the air. The slightest odd noise or turbulence and she bocomes very scared. Watching too much news I think!!

Hi Prue,

Your enthusiasm is infectious! :flower:

Lovely to 'meet' you :cheer2:

When exactly are you going?

Thank you to all who replied to my post, its so nice to hear from you and to get replies.

Firstly, HUGE thanks to Rob for that site, I am going to definitely read it all this weekend. I like practical advice, always the best. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday as I see you are leaving very soon.

Nicky, I am a great fan of Stugeron and was toying with the idea of taking some as my DD always has it, so I think I will, as Rob says, I dont want anything stronger. I will also get the tablets that Carolfoy recommended (thank you), have also bought the good old bach flower rescue remedy spray (on short flights I usually use this and a double gin and tonic, only time I drink spirits is on a plane, but know it will be a bad idea on a long haul and stugeron would be a better option)!!

We are off to Miami on the 15th October and after a couple of days on the beach we are driving up and staying at POR, we have tickets for MNSSHP which should be great fun.I am so excited and want to do a trippie but am wondering as a newbie if anyone would want to read it!!

Anyway thank you all for response. prue :sunny:
