Count of Staterooms

I have read in several places that there are 875 staterooms on the Disney ships. Just for the fun of it, I decided to count them myself, using the deck plans on the DisneyCruise web site. I got 879, not 875. I recounted them but got the same result the second time. Does anyone know where I counted wrong? The following are the details of my count by deck and category:

I only counted rooms with numbers and category color codes.

Actually Disney says there are 877 staterooms:

Cat 1 - 2
Cat 2 - 2
Cat 3 - 16
Cat 4 - 82
Cat 5/6/7 - 276
Cat 8/9 - 247
Cat 10 - 96
Cat 11/12 - 156

I didn't count them to be sure, though.

I counted them using the deck plans in the smaller brouchure, the one that comes with the video, and got 877:

Deck 1 - 42
Deck 2 - 229
Deck 5 - 78
Deck 6 - 246
Deck 7 - 180
Deck 8 - 102

I've also seen this same number noted in a few newspaper articles about the ships.

Looks like we have the same numbers, except on deck 2. I just counted again and got 229: 13 cat. 12, 64 cat. 10, 152 cat. 9.

Even the big brochure lists the staterooms in each category which total 877. But in a DCL teleconference this week, a District Sales Manager mentioned "<I>875 staterooms available to book</I>." Maybe a couple of them are not open to bookings for some reason.

I also just counted and I also got 877, the difference seems to be on deck 2. It's really weird though, if you look at the diagram for deck2, I'm looking at the 2001 - 2003 brochure, on deck 2 cabins 2634 and 2636 don't exist. There is just a grey area where those cabins would be located. The cabin numbers jump from 2632 to 2638 with that BIG grey area. I find that very interesting.... Wonder what happened to those cabins....

THank you Lori. You are correct. I had misscounted the cat. 9 rooms on deck 2. There are 152, not 154. However, Disney says that there are only 16 cat. 3 rooms. The deck 8 map in my brochure clearly shows 18. If Disney cannot count them, who can?

didnt realize most of the staterooms are cat 5-9
and if i looked on the map I would have seen most are on decks 2&6

I could be wrong; but comparing the newest brochure (2002-2003) to the very first brochure (no date; but it says "Sailing Early 1998) - the Cat 3 rooms are different. The first brochure shows 16 Cat 3; and the newer brochure shows 18 Cat 3. The last two rooms on each side aft are now Cat 3. Used to be just 2 Cat 3 rooms back there.

The grey area on Deck 2 was always there. But one does wonder what it is.

First book also says 875 rooms.

This is getting interesting. Think I have to do some more counting.

Rooms 5152 & 5652 (which were the very last rooms on Deck 5) are shown in the first brochure; but NOT in the newer one.

Could this be it?
