Count down ideas needed!

I would like to hear or see any count down calendars ideas anyone has. I picked up some Mickey ears in various colors, including the alien green ones for the park, from HD. I would like to start with day 100. I await your ideas.

We make a paper chain and tear off one link each day. Really gave my oldest the perspective of the trip getting closer as the chain got shorter. We video taped his last link of the chain on the day we left. It was so cool.

Well we did this a 30 days (it would be a bit long at 100), we took different colors of construction paper & cut it into about 2" long strips & looped them together to form a chain link, each day upon coming home one of the children (they had to take turns) torn one off. We hung it in our dining room archway/doorway (hence why I say 100 would be long ) This yr we are going for Halloween & we will do orange & black alternating.

We did one waaaaay out as well. It was a catterpillar, with Mickey ears on the head (last day). We made the last three weeks as individual circles - we took one off each day - and before that, as stips of circles together - we took one off each week. Here is what it looked like:

I also liked that we could write on the days, if there were other things going on that DS was looking forward to in the meantime.

I am also looking for some ideas for a countdown. The kids are 1.5, 3 and 4 yrs old. Last yr we did the constructuion paper chain but I was hoping for something a little more creative. Unfortunatley I am not the creative type, lol. The caterpillar is a cute one.

I just do a fast one-post it notes counting backwards from 30! The last one has a sticker or mickey head on it.
