After recent reports about being able to get APs and other tickets at the resort, I was excited to be able to take care of everything at check-in at the Boardwalk yesterday. At the ticketing/concierge desk at Boardwalk Villas last night at approximately 8PM, I was told that they do not do any DVC APs and that we must go to one of the theme park guest relations booths. I told the CM that I had read online through DVC news that they were doing these tickets at the resorts now, but her response was that they have NEVER (her emphasis, not mine) done APs or DVC discount APs from the resorts. :confused3

When I stayed at BLT in March, they let the guy standing next to me use his DVC discount to buy an annual pass.

I would send an e-mail to member services asking to clarify.

Good info to know. We are checking into BWV next week, and had planned on buying a DVC AP for my DS at the resort. I won't waste my time now.

Might be one of those situations where they "can" do them, but some CM's are just going under the status quo of they have never done them. It would be good to see what MS has to say about it.

Also, with BWV and BCV's being much more of a mixed bag of room types (cash vs dvc), they might have more issues getting the information out to their employees. I remember AKL had a heck of a time when they added the villa's, training the employees about the ins and outs of DVC....and they still have some issues.

It has always been the case that AP's (DVC discount) are only sold at the parks' Guest Services and at Downtown Disney Guest Services.

Until any official notification (DVC Members Website, etc.) I would assume that is still the case. One can always ask at the resorts, but I would not count on it till it is "official". :)

Just FYI - Any ticket except the Premier (WDW & Disneyland) pass can be purchased at ANY ticket window at any park, not just at Guest Relations.

I'm sorry you ran into that situation. I agree, until they say it's "official" to purchase DVC AP tickets at the resort it might be hit or miss.
I was able to get a new DVC AP with the discount at Kidani last month.

Just because the system can do them doesn't mean the employees are supposed to do them. There is much more info printed on the back of an AP. With the resorts only have the plastic card encoders, vs the thinner Tyvek pass encoders, that info may not be formatted correctly to print properly on the hard cards. If the park entry system goes down (and it does from time to time) the CMs need to read that printed in on the AP.

Well, I reported right from OKW during our March trip, that we were able to get our APs at the resort. Took all of a few minutes!

Our APs are printed on regular blue with castle room key cards - no characters, which was hard to get used to at first, as we organize them according to characters. LOL!

It made for difficultly during the week though, as many CMs have no idea about this, so when we handed our card to get our AP merchandise discount, many of them handed it back, thinking we gave them the wrong card!

So, yes you can get APs at resorts! Tiger :)

This past February I was able to purchase DVC APs at the Boardwalk guest services area. I was quite shocked and pleasantly surprised that she said yes when I asked. I have been asking the resort guest services for many years now, I just assumed she would say "no" and then I would, like I always do, comment that it would be great if they started offering this service.

I'm really surprised that the OP had this experience. :confused3 It took her about 5-10 mins to do everything...which is much faster than I remember it when I had to go to the Park ticket area. And there were no lines. I guess I got some pixie dust that day!:goodvibes

The resorts have not had this option in the past. With the change to the new Lilo system they do have the ability to do it. Each resort was being rolled onto the system.

If BW has recently done this as DVCdisney just shared they have, then yes they have the capability. Possibly the CM was not trained yet on the new system and was not aware.

If you are at a resort where you are not sure if they are on the new system and the CM tells you no, ask for an on duty manager.

we were able to purchase DVC AP at the guest services desk at VWL just last week. CM had more of a problem using 2 gift cards to pay for it then issuing the AP:confused3

PP - i have 4 gift cards ($100 each) to cover the cost of my AP. do you think this will be too much for the CMs at the resorts? should i just go to guest services DTD or the park window?

I bought my DVC AP at Kidani last Tuesday with no problems. When I got home I went to register it on the pass holder site and they do have the room key version online to choose from so I'm thinking it must be ok to do that or otherwise they wouldn't show it as an option online.

If you are worried about the number of gift cards being a problem, just call the number on the back of your card during business hours and they can consolidate the 4 cards into 1. If you call after hours or on weekends, that number gets routed to another team that will tell you it is not possible to consolidate.

We just got home from BWV this morning. We bought AP with DVC discount last Tuesday (May 10).

It is a shame that the CM's at the resorts are not consistently trained. We were able to buy DVC APs last week at BLT with no problems.
