Couldn't believe this at the BET Awards!

I just searched for the lyrics and I must have an edited version somehow. Can someone link me to the real lyrics-the bad ones? You can PM me if neceessary. My son listens to L'il Wayne and he isn't aware that this song is blatantly racy either.

I can proudly say I have never and will never tune my television to BET.

:rotfl::rotfl:Have my TV on BET right now.
Let's not forget the good in BET. BET weekly shows are nice at times. I love seeing Color Purple and other great african- american shows. Sunday gospel is great as well. BET also broadcast other blacks/african-americans that struggled despite the aversary and it gives hope to others that are trying. I've been there and respect the ones that paved the way for me to be where I'm at today.

What????? What does this mean? I've seen lots of great programming on BET. What's your beef exactly? If you 'never have' then how can you say you 'never will' unless there is some kind of prejudice involved?
this took a little longer than i thought it would..........so.............popcorn::

lololol I bet he does..I was shocked my son listen to that song.

The word genius and rap in the same sentence makes me LOL! It's trash, it's all skanky and trashy as is BET.

As a matter of fact last night on our local news there was a young man who was an aspiring rap artist. He was probably 17 or 18 and he was talking about meeting with .50 cent and Eminem etc. etc. My 17 year old son looks at me and says "To bad he missed English class to practice his rap." The boy spoke so horribly! His parents were so proud of him too. You know forget the fact that he couldn't carry an INTELLIGENT conversation to save his life, HE CAN RAP. Oh please :rolleyes

An aspiring Rap/Hip Hop artist is not going to give an interview sounding like an English teacher, kwim? I drive a school bus and listen to kids talk with horrible grammer and use ebonics all day long. Most of them, when talking to me, sound like regular kids....I mean they can do it both ways. That your son doesn't know that probably means that he's in a suburb where there is very little exposure to the culture we are discussing except on Itunes.

So you immediately recognized the issues I did but chose not to call it out? This is why our country is in such a twisted mess all the time; people are afraid to point out blatant racisim even when it's obvious. They find it "popcorn::" entertaining to watch.

I didn't know BET has gospel, I take back everything being Trashy on there then. Everytime I've ever turned it on there has been women showing way to much skin and nasty nasty lyrics.

My son actually goes to a school that is mixed black and white. Actually though most of DS's friends don't speak Ebonics at all they speak normal English. I've been around them in both a formal and informal manner and they speak the same all the time. The Ebonics come from what is called the ghetto. I hope that doesn't insult anyone as that's what the black kids at our school call it too.

I just don't understand the want for Ebonics, it makes no sense to me. Why would anyone want to sound uneducated?

give me a break, the guy is an idiot to market lyrics like that, i dont care if he is green. you are going to defend black for blacks sake. in the song he calls blacks, nigga, no i did not spell it wrong thats the lyric, thats ok right? let a 35 year old wasp from milwaukee walk up to HIM and call him that. he will be screaming to high heaven about racism. call it out?????????? you gotta be afraid to even mention it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me say first off the the lyrics to the song are quite nasty but there is a market for it which is why Lil Wayne is so popular. There are adults and kids that like to listen to this "music". If people did not purchase the music these forms of rap would disappear.

Secondly, I am not a fan of Bet I think their programming sucks but so does MTV. Both seem to exploit the younger population and women.

Lastly, some of these rappers present themselves as hardcore or gangsters however the opposite is true in multiple cases. Many have college degrees and are more intelligent than they present. They have found a way to make money, a lot of money. Though we may find it tasteless, demeaning, and disgusting it is legal.

Um, we were talking about the comment that someone was proud to never have watched BET and never would. I'm thinking you don't even get the issue so back off 'cause you are waaaaay off here. I don't allow the use of the 'N' word on my bus, in my house and if anyone close to me uses it-whatever their race, they get told about it. But,.....that's not what I was talking about. kiwm? And why would you 'be afraid to even mention' racism with anyone? We all have to be a part of the solution.

whoaaa, you brought up the words prejudice, and racism. i didnt, now i'm off base?

The gym I used to belong to had the channel on all the time and I can deal with rap music about as long as I could deal with being set on fire, it just isn't the kind of music for me. I was turned off to the channel and don't really know what other shows are on it. I also don't watch MTV or VH1 but since the thread wasn't about the MTV awards I didn't think that was relevant. It is not a race issue as seems to be implied. My favorite band, DMB, contains a majority of black performers, but it isn't rap.

I do not watch BET and it WILL NOT BE ON IN MY HOME...i DO NOT GIVE A CARE IF SOMEONE THINKS i AM A RACIST! I would NEVER allow my children to listen to that...I am shocked and really kinda sick that they would allow someone to sing that on TV.I wish I had never looked up the words for that mess.I have plenty of black friends and neighbors who know me and know I am not that way...also THEY would not let their kids listen to that .

My .2 cents worth is, we are living in a world now that has no sense of respect for "the family " , not to mention women or themselves for that matter.
If you teach your children the value of family, true love, church and honor, GOD bless you for you are a dying breed in the world today.

I also wanted to add that this type of thing is not racist, I go to church with plenty of black people, that are like my own family, that would never in a million years dream of letting something like this into their homes, let the world do what they want, as for " the few" we won't stand or have our family subject to such.

One of the reasons BET, as well as MTV, have been off our channel choice here for quite a few years, both trash.

Same here, and it has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the trash those stations choose to air.

Lil' Wayne, what a joke, I'm sorry, thats not rap music, that's NOISE!!!!! They also had the nerve to give respect to Michael Jackson after a rapping a song like that? GMAFB!:sad2: That performance was pathetic, a freakin' joke!:sad2:

My Mom said the same thing about "Jesus Christ Superstar", The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Woodstock Album, David Bowie and on and on. She also said vegetarianism would never last and thought girls wearing blue jeans was just a fad. Generations and special interest groups will always have things they do not understand-phenomenon's created by entertainment groups, fashion, artists. OK to not like it, not ok to judge people because they do or don't. My issue is with those who say they are 'proud' to be against or for like it is some sort of superior brain movement OR that one TV station is bad because of SOME of it's programming. Where would FOX be without the Simpsons? and yet, many FOX fans would never watch shows such as The Simpsons or Family Guy. I personally hate the demeaning of women in the Rap industry and yet, I loved Sean Combs in "A Raisin In the Sun." These rap artists are multi-dimensional. We should encourage them to show us these other talents and contribute to society in other ways rather than just count them out.
