I was so apalled with Lil Wayne's "performance" of his song "Every Girl." Google the lyrics yourself, I don't want to get points. Allowing young girls to dance on stage to a song like this?? :scared1:  :sad2: No I can't confirm their age, but they absolutely did not look to be much older that 15! One of them looked about 12. It's beyond inapprorpriate IMO. What kind of parent allows that? Furthermore who in charge of the event thought this was a good idea? It wasn't cute, it was trashy and degrading and sends a very bad message.

:scared1::eek:
I just googled the lyrics...they are horrible! I have never heard the song and I didn't watch the BET awards, but I'm wondering how on earth he was allowed to perform that song? Was it censored or edited at all? That's such a tacky, trashy song.

Just talking to my coworker about the song. Apparently it is played a LOT and is a chart-topper right now. Much of the lyrics are beeped out on the radio but, according to her, it is very obvious what he is saying and everyone seems to love the song.

oh trust me, i've read the lyrics. i work for chacha and i can tell you lil' wayne is VERY popular. i get requests for his lyrics all day long, and that's one of the nastiest songs i've ever seen. i can't believe he was allowed to perform it onstage at an awards show. someone dropped the ball on that one.

Folks, it's BET -- did you really expect them to enforce any standard of decency? That network panders to the lowest common denominator in taste.

PS: Just to be clear, since this is a thread about music awards, the "taste" I referred to above is musical taste. Some of BET's non-music programming is fine -- it's just that there is very little of it, relatively speaking.

I'll save my thoughts on BET for another thread but I gurarantee Lil Wayne got a standing ovation and no one in that room thought twice about it. :sad2:

If you followed the other BET award thread we posted on last night this was brought up. I HOPE THEY REMOVED HIS YOUNG DAUGHTER FROM THE AUDIENCE DURING HIS PERFORMANCE..

I watched it and it was a garbled mess. Although that song is widly popular right now (I don't know why, it's trash) I don't know why anyone would let him perform that song on an awards show of any kind. Ridiculous. And for the record he did not receive a standing ovation unless you count the random people who were standing up and dancing to the song.

Oh my goodness ... Google is NOT my friend today. What a nasty little song.

****Dont even get me started*****

Why in the world BET is given Tiny and Toya a tv show:scared1:

Why in the world BET is given Neffe and Frankie a tv show

Editor note***I will be watching Frankie she's a show all by herself...lol:rotfl:

O and the lil wayne skanky song...I just ask my 18 have he heard or have that song..he said yes to both....brb going to collect a lil wayne cd/delete from ipod..that song is NASTY

First off, he has a child?! :scared1: And secondly...she was there?! How old is she? I wonder if when he sings these songs that degrade women he stops and thinks about his daughter. I doubt it and that makes it even sadder. :sad2:

With songs like that the old question about "Life immitating art or art immitating life?" does not have a happy ending either way. :(

During our Med cruise on the Magic in 2007, a father and his three small daughters (7-10ish) sang AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long".

By the time they were finished, everyone in the room, crew and guest alike, were mortified, horrified, putrified, and other -ifieds that I cannot bring myself to share. I pray that they purged that song from the play list.

For those that don't know even though some consider him to be a genius in the rap game, there are a whole lot of folk that consider him a no-talent little crunchy cricket. How what he does passes as having skills makes my head spin at times. Maybe I am showing my age but I don't get it :confused3

I came up in the golden age of rap. I had Run-DMC, KRS-one, Big Daddy :worship: etc and he can't even hope to considered alongside of them.

I am just grateful for the invention of the ipod and my converter that I can play it in my car so I can bypass all of that foolishness they pass as music on the radio. ESPECIALLY HIM.

His 15 minutes were up 17 minutes ago.

The word genius and rap in the same sentence makes me LOL! It's trash, it's all skanky and trashy as is BET.

As a matter of fact last night on our local news there was a young man who was an aspiring rap artist. He was probably 17 or 18 and he was talking about meeting with .50 cent and Eminem etc. etc. My 17 year old son looks at me and says "To bad he missed English class to practice his rap." The boy spoke so horribly! His parents were so proud of him too. You know forget the fact that he couldn't carry an INTELLIGENT conversation to save his life, HE CAN RAP. Oh please :rolleyes

The song itself isn't bad but I would not sing it with my children. I think what happens is people like a song and don't bother thinking about the lyrics, they just sing them. It's like playing Born in the USA while trying to patriotic.

I can proudly say I have never and will never tune my television to BET.

What????? What does this mean? I've seen lots of great programming on BET. What's your beef exactly? If you 'never have' then how can you say you 'never will' unless there is some kind of prejudice involved?

The sad part is that it's not as popular as Lollipop was last year. Google those lyrics. Much, much worse IMO.

ETA: I think alot of music made today by many artists, not just rap artists, is TRASHY!!!
