Will I make it through flights of passage? Curious to hear about everyone’s experience on this ride especially those that have no problem on soaring but can’t do rides like star tours because of motion sickness. Thanks!

Star Tours gives me a headache. Body Wars was the same. I am fine on Flight of Passage. It's set up much differently.

Flights of Passage affected me the same way Body Wars and Star Tours did. I get pretty motion sick on then if I keep my eyes open. I avoid Star Tours for the most part. I did FoP last November and had to close my eyes through most of it. What I saw of it was great though. I can handle Soarin’ with very little trouble.

FoP threw me WAY off. I have no issues with motion sickness on any other rides. I ride everything. There are numerous instances of spinning while diving and I felt dizzy and nauseous for awhile after I got off FoP. I also found the movie to be blurry and not at all crisp as I would have expected from such a new ride. I had a hard time focusing and found the picture moved way too fast.

How much spinning? I don't have issues with Star Tours or Soarin, but I do have an issue with Forbidden Journey at Universal. I felt fine once I was off, but there was a particular motion that didn't agree with me. I survived, but I won't ride it again.

To clarify, not ACTUAL spinning. But, imagine dive bombing and rotating at the same time, or making a deep dive and rotating to one side. That happens several times and the image on the screen spins. I usually have NO issue with spinning...In fact, the more spinning the better, IMO. However, this was the perception of spinning while not actually spinning and it messed me up. My husband had a similar reaction. He said he felt "off."

I loved Body Wars! and I still love Star Tours. FOP is way different but I have never felt sick nor has my wife or our 6 year old.

I get motion sick on Star Tours even on motion sickness medication (I also got very sick on Body Wars) but I was fine of FoP. In fact, it's my favorite ride at WDW. I do take the motion sickness medication in the morning though, just to be safe.

I will say that at the very beginning of the ride, when you first "see" Pandora, there are a very brief few seconds where I feel a bit disoriented. The first time I rode it I started to panic a bit because I thought the motion sickness was starting but after a few brief second the disorientation went away and I had no other issues. I haven't had that feeling of disorientation on the ride after that first time. I also think it helps to not try and "fight" the ride. The first few "dives" I felt myself starting to fight it but realized pretty quickly that if I just give in and imagine that I am really flying it is a much more enjoyable and fun experience.

I think you are going to have to try it for yourself. I can't ride Star Tours at all - there's something about the seating, space, video, etc - I just feel roughed up and nauseous afterwards. I can "slightly" ride Soarin - meaning I have to keep my eyes shut much of the time so I don't get motion sick. FoP is the easiest for me. I think the because riding the banshee feels very individual, the wind, the angling the ride does, the breathing of the banshee, the obvious story line - I can make it through. I do have to close my eyes on the super fast moving parts - but I can anticipate those.

Because getting motion sick is a known problem for me - I planned FoP for the first time so it would not ruin my whole day. If I got sick - I was just going to leave the park and go sleep off the motion sicknesses.

Does anyone know off-hand how long FoP lasts? I, too, am concerned about motion sickness but I'm going on it and will close my eyes as necessary to get through it. Sometimes it helps me to know how much longer the ride is because I will have that in my head. For instance, I know Rock N' Rollercoaster is 90 seconds. The first loop sets off my motion sickness but I can say in my head "You can do this, it's a 90 second ride and you're halfway through."

I get motion sickness very easily, can’t even read on a bus to work. I always feel sick at the end of Star Tours. However, I didn’t feel sick on FOP. Everyone is different, but I think the fact that in Star Tours you have so many things to look at other than the screen because the screen is further away from you is the reason why I get sick. FOP is not like that
