if the cowboy/gangster scene in the Great Movie Ride would be scary or not for kids? I"ve never been on it but I heard that you get caught in a gangster scene. Thanks so much!

My ds who was 4.5 at the time was TERRIFIED of this ride for one reason only -- volume! The gangster was very, very loud, using his menacing tone, and there were gun shots. I couldn't believe that my son cried through the whole thing. I was able to talk him through the POC and HM just fine, but this one did him in.
That being said, he will be trying it again now that he is 6. :earseek:

I took my dd4 (who is scared of most things) and dd 18mos on it in Dec. They both rode in the middle of us and did fine. I would imagine some kids would get kinda scared, but I have to say my dd did fine. Maybe explain to them before it comes up. Every child is different, so you would have to use your own judgement if you think your child would be scared. It is a little noisy when the guns are shooting.

Thank you for your replies. From what your saying I think it may freak out my youngest. I will talk to her about it and see what she thinks - I'm leaning against it for at least this year. Thanks again.

I would worry more about the ALIEN (from Alien) along the way than the gangsters. Our friend lent us a great book before our first trip that included scare factors for all the rides. But I'm sorry I just dont know what it was called.

The Unofficial Guide to WDW 2005, is great and it has scare factors in it...that are a wonderful guide for small kids. Also I am finding the Passporter VERY helpful. The Unofficial guide says that the Aliens in that ride may be what scares kids. As well as Stitches ride being frighting for young kids..which i would have to agree with. Also on the list that I can think of right now is..Snow White.
That book was wroth the moola. Check it out..
www.amazon.com then do a serch for Disney Guide Books.

Have a fun trip.

I definitely second this! The alien is very easy to (purposely) miss though. The gangster stuff didn't really scare my DS & DD,at 3 & 5 first time, but DD tends to be anxious and worried that it was a real surprise takeover so she needed reassurance that it was part of the ride. Same thing with the Safari at AK.

I don't even like that part. I keep my head down and never look at the alien. (Sit toward the middle left to avoid this).

Also, there are a couple dark areas w/ skeletons?? snakes?? near the Indian Jones section of the ride...my memory could be off here. I have a very sensitive dd who just needed some hugs and warning to close her eyes when we went through this. She's gone on it again and again, but still closes her eyes at times. She does NOT like going on HM, though and would choose the Movie Ride over it any day.
