I couldn't. Even if I got every thing right, I could never figure out how much to wager quick enough. I stink at math. ;)

I don't think I'd survive, either. I'd have a blonde moment in the middle of the game. Wager everything. And lose.

I have way too many blonde moments.

I can never understand how they decide so quick what to wager on final Jeopardy. I'd be like "Well, if I wager 1000, and he wagers 1200, and she wagers 4000... that would leave us all with, oh - who cares - I'm gonna lose anyway." :lmao:

I think I would be okay with the wagering part, it's answering all those pesky trivia questions in 1.5 seconds flat that I would falter in! The first round I do alright (IF the categories are familiar to me), but round two I don't know too many answers :confused3 . I like Jeopardy, I feel if I can learn one new thing by watching it it was worth my time.

PS Plus I have a crush on Alex Trebek

My grandmother, mother, and my ex have been badgering me for YEARS to try out. I do know way too much useless information. But I know I'd freeze up if I were on that stage. Or, with my luck, all of the questions would be about sports.

Heck no. I was bad enough at Trivial Pursuit and was so glad when that faded out at family parties and the like......

I've tried out in the past for the show, but I didn't make it past the first stage of qualifying (the test they give everyone). :)

Isn't it fun when you're watching with someone else, and you just happen to know some totally off-the-wall answer?

I watch with my mom and she actually believes she has a brilliant daughter when I get one of those right. Mothers are so blind. :rotfl:

I kept trying to encourage my now deceased BIL to try out. I thing he would have done well. (sigh)

ETA: As for me, maybe if it was celebrity Jeopardy - like they do on SNL. :lmao:

I've always wanted to try. Chris and I watch everyday and if we could somehow merge into one contestant, we'd mop up. Maybe someday I can talk him into trying out.

You all need to read the book "How to Get on Jeopardy - and Win!" by Michael somebody, who was a Tournament of Champions winner 'a while back' ;)

Not that it's helped me so far  - but he's got a lot of interesting advice, and reasonably common questions in a lot of categories (a lot of stuff gets asked over again, in different ways).

You might be surprised how much you know - and how fast you can recall it. And, um, you have five seconds to respond after you buzz in, plus the time you have to read the question yourself while Alex is reading it out loud; and at least in Final Jeopardy!, you have time to determine your wager, and crew members make sure you've already started the question format on your board during the break - so you don't lose on that technicality.

I could clean up on celebrity Jeopardy. I'm astounded at how stupid our celebrities are!!!!

I love Jeopardy! BUT, I know I could not actually make it on the show. I tried out for it once, and was doing really well on the quiz, but towards the last ten questions or so though, my brain just went on overdrive and I could not keep up. Oh well, I did get a Jeopardy pen out of it!

I read a very interesting article a few months ago that talks about how the game is designed to make people at home feel like they could play along succesfully, but the actual game is much more difficult. For example, there are penalties (delay in ability to ring in) for attempting to ring your buzzer before Alex finishes reading the question (whereas at home you can just shout the answer out). Much of the game rests on the wagering strategies, buzzer capability, and the daily doubles as opposed to general knowledge.

I would never make it on Jeopardy, but I had to share this with you. For one solid week last summer I had DH thinkin' he married a GENIUS! I get out of work early during the summer months. So I came home and happened to find Jeopardy on TV...watched for a bit...then, later that evening we were flipping through the channels when I found the same episode on again. I started answering the questions left and right. DH thought it was a fluke and decided to wager with me. We kept track of how much money we were winning and who, between the two of us, was winning. I let it go several days before I fessed up that I was watching it before he got home from work and getting all the answers.

And here he thought I was such a smartie.... :p

Seriously, though, I'm great in public trivia games but only if they're about Star Wars.

[Skip this sentence if you don't want to see me brag]: I have won the Million Points at Disney's WWTBAM Star Wars Edition and won the TTT at SWW countless times. [You can start reading again!]

So, Star Wars Jeopardy, sure. ;) Actually, though, now that I think of it, even at 15 I thought College Jeopardy was easy... not too sure about the regular one though. I know I'd be fine onstage but I'd probably be just like that guy up there ^. :teeth:

my reflexes are not fast enough not to mention my brain :rotfl:

They would have to "dumb it down" for me.....like they do for celebrity jeopardy.
