I will have one child new to potty training and one slightly tenured when we go to Disney. When we went to Universal, they had restrooms accessible outside the parks, just before the gate. Are there restrooms at Disney like that? (One child always waits until we get to where we cannot go, to want to go. I have a gut instinct, she'll always have to go while on transportation in route in a park.) Any advice?

TIA!!!!
:cool1: (Looks like the pee-pee dance!)

To be honest, I would try to avoid the whole issue until my return. It's a time consuming process-- two steps forward, one (or two or three) steps back.

I say put it off, invest in some pullups, and tackle it all after your vacation.

(MY MO for my girls was this: wait until a nice summery day, put them in the yard wearing only an inexpensive sundress, and remind them every 15 minutes to go to the potty. After an accident or two they seemed to get the point.)

That said, I haven't been to WDW in a billion years, so I'm not sure about the answer to your question.

Good luck!!!

I know there are definitely restrooms outside the gates at MK.

I'm not sure about the other parks, for some reason I seem to recall them being just inside the gates.

HTH.

I know there are at the MK and Epcot. I am not positive about the other two parks but would assume the same as well. Good luck potty training. We'll be going in June with a fairly new diaper free girl and I am hoping it won't be a disaster!

There are restrooms at the Ticket & Transportation Center, outside of Animal Kingdom, and outside of Epcot. These I know for a fact;)

I know there are restrooms outside of DHS - to the left of the turnstyles right past guest services.

I would stick to your potty schedule, but definitely have him/her wear pull-ups
better to be safe than sorry.

there are RRs easily accessible everywhere except Liberty Square in MK (one right around the corner in FantasyLand though) none in LS in keeping with the time period. Do you have girls or boys & how old are they? Try & keep to the schedule, but be prepared for 'no, I don't have to go' & an accident 3 minutes later. :lmao:

I have been struggling with this too. DS has been fully trained for about 3 weeks now, but I can't make a decision about using pull-ups on the trip. It took soooo much to get to this point and I am afraid the pull-ups will be a giant step back. On the other hand, I don't want to be cleaning up accidents all day.

I would continue with the training. There are tons of rr everywhere, both in and out of the parks. If you are training with "Big Girl/Boy" undies then don't switch back to pullups for the trip. They are too much like diapers. Bring extra undies and a big ziplock bag to the parks with you. If she/he has an accident, rinse the undies in the sink to get rid of peepee smell them place them in the ziplock bag. You can was them with detergent in the sink in your room when you get back. :laundy: Enjoy your trip. We've all been there!:thumbsup2

I think I would go with the pull-ups. Sometimes the lines at the restroom are soooooo long. Stick some inexpensive "rewards" in your bag for treats when your child successfully makes it to the potty on time.......Nothing quite as bad as being on a ride with your child when they decide that right then and there is the appropriate place to potty.....only you find out when you are wet too!!

Regardless of what you decide about pull-ups vs big kid pants, you might also want to pack some post-it notes in your backpack. DD was 3.5 and fairly well trained when my in-laws first took her to Disney, but she was so scared of the self-flushing toilets (which tend to flush before little ones are ready, because if they move even a little they unblock the sensor and the toilet reads that as getting up) that she had a couple near-accidents and some tears over bathroom stops because she was so afraid of getting on the potties in the park.

When they got back and I shared that story with a friend, she recommended the post-it note trick to stop the toilet from flushing while DD was on it. If you cover the sensor on the toilet with a sticky note it won't flush until you remove the cover.
