I'm still working on this year's WDW trip album, but I have started thinking about next year's album already:) . Now that I am no longer afraid of my Cricut, I want the Big Bug:rotfl2: . We are also, however, saving for the trip, so getting a Big Bug anytime soon is out of the question.

I've noticed that, with each successive trip, I buy fewer and fewer souvenirs. That means my souvenir line item in the budget gets smaller every year........SO, that got me thinking. If the only souvenir I get next year is the Photopass CD, could I use money that I might have spent on other stuff to buy a Big Bug? I'd kind of like to buy it before the trip (which isn't until August) so I can cut out larger icons for autographs. I kind of look at it as a trip expense if I'm using it for autographs, scrapbook pages, and window decorations related to WDW.

What do you think? Would your DH go along with this plan? I'm afraid that mine will say, "Well, if you're spending $400 on your hobby, I'm spending $400 on mine". That may sound fair, except he spends WAAAYYYY more than that on his hobbies whenever he feels like it, and I am willing to give up other Disney souvenirs in order to have the Big Bug.

Well even though I dont HAVE a husband ( I IS the husband  )

What we did and it works well is just eliminate all the little gifty things you buy each other during the year. Tell him all you want is one gift this year and what it is and you would like it for Christmas. Then leave the WDW budget as is DONT reduce the souvenir portion at all. Do the same with him tell hime to pick one gift you can get him for his hobby and then give it at Christmas. (If you dont celebrate Christmas pick a day and then exchange gifts that day.

hallmark scrapbook has the big bug for $299 with free shipping...I think you might be able to do it....also if you say skip a few nice meals and do counter service...maybe....that'll save quite a few pennies....

So I did a little math, $400 divided by 9 , since that is when you are leaving is $44/month that would need to be stashed away.

Would you be willing to sell your little bug on E-bay to off set the cost of a new one?

I like Squids idea the best with the whole no anniversary/christmas/birthday gift. And the hallmarkscrapbook.com deal is pretty sweet!

My DH would say, "Let's wait until after the trip and see how well you actually did." :rotfl2: I always have the best intentions, but they always go horribly wrong.

Could you find some money each month out of your regular budget (Starbucks, brown bagging vs buying lunch, buying what's on sale for groceries)? When we were saving for the cruise, and I went over the monthly expenses I realized we were eating out WAAAYYYY too much.

Your thoughts work for me, but then again, I can almost always justify any shopping purchase. ;) :rotfl2:

My darling fiance just bought a plasma TV for his office so I could definitely buy it and tell him to deal, however I am trying to save money (unlike him obviously) so it is on my Christmas list. Oh and to make things better with the TV he has been :going to get one" since we bought the house in June and just never did since we are supposed to be saving money for our wedding next year, but a few weeks ago he just went out and did it. To make it even funnier, he bought it while I was in bed passed out after having my wisdom teeth out that morning. He decided to reward himself for my pain! Gotta love him!

Yesterday was our 20th wedding anniversary and we didn't do anything to mark the occasion. Today I am having a hard time not marking the occasion with a splurge at hallmark scrapbook!

Buy that bug! After all, if you make embellishments instead of buying it will SAVE you money:rolleyes1
