Thank you all. You've made me realize how silly I was being. Why give up an extra day at WDW just because you're a scaredy-cat? :rotfl:

You mean the choice was between leaving WDW a day early, or flying on Friday the thirteenth? For us, that would be a no-brainer. The extra day at WDW would win hands down.

Why don't you expand your horizons, and plan your stay at WDW on the basis of the Julian, Islamic, Hebrew or Buddhist calendars? You would no longer be travelling on Friday the thirteenth, and problem is solved! (Although you might have some interesting conversations when you try to make your reservations ...)

I've flown on several Friday the 13ths and I flew on 9/11/08. It's never occurred to me to NOT fly on a day I need to.
Me too...I didn't realize it was 9/11 until after I booked the flight...my flight was almost empty, which was awesome, extra snacks and leg room...it's also why it was probably so cheap.
Is there something bad about Friday the 13th? :confused3

Just a day where an arbitrary number and an arbitrary day name happen to intersect (but only on certain calendars - not everyone uses the same calendar in the world).
I was going to say that I don't consider Friday the 13th unlucky...unless you're a Templar Knight, have greatly angered the Catholic Church, or know someone named Jason who owns a hockey mask. It's considered unlucky because that was a day of a massacre of the Knights Templar, so it became an unlucky day in the Christian mythology. So it's not arbitrary, but a few centuries out of date...and it wasn't so much unlucky as it was plotted and planned, so luck never had anything to do with it. Hooray History Channel!

I hate flying on any day, but I don't think Friday the 13th is especially bad.

I would love to know, historically, how any major disasters have actually occurred on Friday the 13th....anyone know??

No way in Heck would I fly on Friday the 13th. I hate fying to begin with, so why tempt fate.:lmao:

My parents and sister flew to Israel on a Friday the 13th recently. They made it there and back safely, but 2 days after they came back, my sister's husband walked out, completely out of the blue and without so much as a backward glance.

Do you think if they'd flown there on the 12th or the 14th he'd have met her at the airport on her return with a dozen roses, swept her into his arms, and said, "My darling! Nevermore shall we be parted!"?

Sorry to be flip but of course you know he'd been planning that one for a while and it had nothing to do with the day she flew home!!

Been there, done that. Last year I was in Orlando for a business conference from June 8-13. Flew home the evening of Friday the 13th, and got in the motorhome with the family the next day to drive to Fort Wilderness for a two week vacation.

Sure - why not?

Friday the 13th is actually my mother's "lucky" day.. Many, many years ago she had surgery that saved her life on Friday the 13th and she's always had good luck on Firday the 13th ever since.. :)

I've got no problem with Friday the 13th.

However, I won't fly on September 11th unless it were a matter or life and death. It's not from any worry about the day, more it's just my own memorial. So many people lost so much that day, it's no sacrifice to me to alter my plans a little bit around it.

Yes

Flying on 9/11 would give me more of a problem just because its a solemn day when it comes to everything. And, more plane crashes have accurred on 9/11 then Friday the 13th

I did this past March and I actually arrived early! :rotfl:
