Could you do this & be happy????

Yes, as long as you do a moderate instead of value.

Last summer, we needed to spend less $ since we were following our Disney trip with a week at the beach and also have a child in college. Two rooms at All Stars was more than $100 a night less than one room at YC (AP rate, YC would have required extra adult fee), so we did it. We loved the extra space, but we decided a nice resort is really and truly an important part of our Disney vacation. The last two nights, though, we moved to two rooms at Coronado and liked it very much. We have also stayed at PO-R a couple times and CBR. They are all fine, but CS is more like a deluxe.

Okay - sad news. We decided not to go - or at least my husband did. I let him be the deciding vote. Now, I could sway him if I really wanted to but I told myself if he said no to leave it alone and let that be the deciding factor. We're going to go for our week long trip either March or April.

I enjoyed this thread - and will use the opinions the next time we do a weekend "quickie." (no dirty minds now)

Thanks to all - especially Mary Liz - I enjoyed your post.

Even though you've already made your decision, I just had to throw in my 2 cents!;)

We just did a VERY spur of the moment trip, December 6-12. (Woke up on a Friday morning, called CRO, checked into our room Sat. at noon!)

Our last 3 trip have been deluxe resorts (2 have been home away from homes). For a trip we had not budgeted for, we decided to stay in a mod. or value. We decided on POR --actually it was all that was available. We really liked it a lot! The grounds were beautiful, the room was fine, bus transportation was all right, the food court and sit down rest. were both good. The thing we missed most was be able to walk "home" from Epcot or MGM; but even that didn't affect our trip all that much!

When I am planning a trip well in advance, (see countdown timer!:teeth: ) I definitely prefer to go the deluxe route. But for a spur of the moment deal a moderate is fine!

dmonroe - I'll keep that in mind the next time we want a spur of the moment trip. I like your spunk!

The most "spur of the moment" we've done is 2 weeks out.

We bounce around all the time. :) I don't think it's a big deal, as long as you know what to expect and realize it will be different. :)
